Two's company, three's a problem...
Reviewed by Paul. Review Posted 25/11/2008

These are fine if you just have two of them as they autoconfigure, but adding more than this is a problem. I found some instructions involving pressing the buttons on the front panel, but these were useless. Its best to plug the new unit directly into a hub, point browsers at both it and an already working unit, and cut and paste the network ID. You can then disconnect from hub and deploy elsewhere in the home.

so easy, get out of box, plug into the wall, computer and hub and off you go. So fast too. Makes Broadband really fast instead of relying on wireless. Brilliant. Buying 2nd pair now.

Apples and pears....

To those saying people should just use wireless, it's no comparison in bandwidth and reliability terms. Wifi bandwidth never gets near the max theoretical limit and is useless for any media streaming requirement. These are a great alternative. BT have been supplying them with Vision for 2 years now, and continue to do so, I can't see them being banned frankly.

Works well
Reviewed by Alan. Review Posted 30/10/2008

This came with the BT Vision box and worked well. Like someone said above there weren't many instructions and I thought it wasn't working to begin with but it was my mistake. Just about to start a trial for BT of their new 24Mb Broadband service so it'll be interesting to see if they work as well with that.

Powerline Adapters for BT Vision
Reviewed by Anonymous. Review Posted 11/06/2008

These came with the BT Vision box as part of the package. There were no instructions other than those in the setup guide for the BTV box. These were easy enough to follow but when I had a problem they weren't too clear about what to do. It turned out they were working fine so better instructions or a manual included would have been better, especially when it came to adding a third adapter.

Did not last long
Reviewed by Dave. Review Posted 17/07/2008

Mine were as issued with the BT Vision box. All appeared well for a while, they I disconnected everything after finding the Vision box had a continually running hard disk....not good for the bank balance. Then a few days ago, after having a 'clash' with all my recordings with Sky +, I reinstalled the Vision box and one adapter had failed, being either off or stuck in standby. Bt engineer to come out and test !! I do not think they worked properly from day one.

These units are known to cause wide interference and OFCOM will intervene when a complaint has been submitted.
Where a complaint is received and proven the owners will be instructed not to use the units and BT will be asked to replace with a hard wired solution.

Non-conforming to European EMC directive EN55022
Reviewed by G4TRA. Review Posted 03/05/2009

Power Line Adapters are very poor technology, polluting the radio spectrum, interfering with your neighbours radio and not adhering to the European EMC directives. Passing these sort of signals down your internal house wiring allows these signal to radiate over several hundreds of meters, much the same as an illegal radio transmitter. The government and OFCOM know the problems regarding Power Line Adapters and will respond when complaints are made by your neighbours in removing the devices, so please ensure that the shop you buy this product from has a sale or return policy.
Home networking has a perfectly good wireless system called Wi Fi and operating at 2.4GHz it interferes with no one, adheres to all European EMC directives and allows you to transfer your broadband and gaming system throughout the house.
There are campaigns afoot both at local and governmental level to have Power Line Adapter removed from the shops and banned, so really they are not such a good idea at all.

Unwanted transmitting of data
Reviewed by Bob. Review Posted 10/01/2009

These devices use your household mains cables to transmit data, but that wiring then acts as an antenna and broadcasts a signal for up to 300m around your house!
This jams shortwave radio within that zone and if anyone complains, you will get a visit from OFCOM's engineers to get you to unplug them! BT Vision are having to replace these with an alternative when complaints are made and the source of the problem is found. Normal wireless technology has no such issues.
