View Full Version : Cloning a hard drive
Alright, so when I buy the new hdd I'm using in my pc, Im gonna need EVERYTHING of my laptop hard drive, by means of cloning it. Problem is, I dont know how to. I have an external hdd that is big enough to copy everything to it, to then move onto my desktop hdd. how can I do this? sorry if it sounds like a mundane question, im new to building computers (except for RAM, RAM I can do)
If your laptop drive is a SATA drive then you could just install the drive in the PC, then copy what you need onto the external drive.
or you could get a new laptop HDD to replace it in the laptop. and keep the drive in the PC.
Might I suggest trying Easeus Todo Backup Free 3.0, it should do exactly want you want.
sorry, I need it to actually clone the drive, names settings programs everything. I cant remove the hard drive at the moment, so I cant do your method. thankyou for replying though
Easeus Todo Backup does clone a drive and does exactly what you need to do, or am I missing something? Just install it on your laptop. Links in above post.
Unpack, burn on CD and boot
Use Norton Ghost 11.5.1, save clone partition.
thats good thanks, will try when my new rig is built
