View Full Version : major problem
Recently I got a new sound card and a new keyboard. For both drivers needed to be installed so you can get full use of both. Before I installed the drivers google chrome and windows 7 in general was working like a charm. All of a sudden with both set of drivers installed Chrome wont open, neither will IE but IE 64 bit will. If I try to go into control panel it freezes resulting in me having to open task manager to close it down. few programs work when this happens. only Ccleaner opens and itunes but AVG is one example that wont. Any idea what the issue might be ? I have a gigabyte board if there is something that needs to be altered in the BIOS can u please give me a detailed way to fix this I really hate IE...
Have you tried removing the devices to see for certain which is causing the problem (I know it will be the sound card if any but at least you will know if it is hardware caused or software), also if it turns out to be the sound card try using it in another pci slot, if it is PCI-e try it in the second PCI-e 16x slot ( a 1x will work fine in a 16x). Hmm ok gigbyte don't use an auto setting in the BIOS for sound cards so first thing you should do is use DEL at startup to enter the BIOS, find Integrated Peripherals (or peripherals on newer boards) and changed teh Audio Controller option to Disabled.
I managed to resolve it by uninstalling the CD drivers and downloading the latest ones on the sites :) such a noob mistake ¬_¬
