View Full Version : Need help choosing parts for pc
i was going build/buy a PC soon but i dont know whether to buy Intel's or AMD's new range of processors when they come out or buy the best of old becasue they will be cheaper if it is the old should i buy a AMD Bulldozer Fx-8350 or a Intel I-5 3570K.
Also should i buy 8gb bundle and buy 4gb more RAM or just buy a 16gb, its just that 16gb seems overkill.
The first part of your question depends on how long you are willing to wait, it's going to be a while before we know how the 4th gen Intel processors and the new AMD processors perform. As for the whole FX-8350 v 3570k the best answer now is to go for the one that is the cheapest, it was widely thought for a long time even after benchmarks that the 3570k was a lot faster than the 8350 but there is a Windows patch available (fairly easy to get but isn't automatically available from Microsoft) that completely flips the results and has the 8350 outperforming the Intel (in games anyway). Personally at the moment given the choice again I would go for the AMD, Intel cheaped out a bit on the 3570k which has left the processor running hotter than it should have, but I've seen no information about the processor patch for Windows 8 so worth keeping that in mind. Also as for RAM 8gb is still fine most new programs are just optimised versions of what they are replacing which are tending to require less RAM, but at the same time I'm remembering DDR4 is about to be released. I think right now is a hard time to be choosing whether to upgrade or not, I can't give an answer as right now if I was going to upgrade I wouldn't know what to do :p, so I just hope the above can maybe help make up your mind, even though there is no definitive answer.
i am willing to wait about 2 years and i suppose i might get something from the new range as computing moves fast and in that amount of time i will be outdated quickly. Also i was wandering really is the I-5 good value for money compared to the Fx-8350. thanks
