Thanks for the help I'm still getting used to this.
It's a good build there should be no compatibility issues, only thing I would point out is the WD Red HDD is designed for NAS or mass storage and therefore it never spins down when the machine is off whereas a WD Black will go into power saving mode when not in use. Also the Black has 5 year warranty over the 3 year warranty on the Red, also with the little saving on that I would switch the RAM to this (http://www.dabs.com/products/kingston-16gb--2-x-8gb--hyperx-beast-ddr3-2133mhz-dimm-c11-8HSY.html?refs=52270000-55260000&src=3) as because you are aiming this towards gaming the higher speed will benefit games and it is always better to use 1 DDR pair rather than populate all 4 slots. Also good choice on not using on board sound but do a little research into Asus Xonar range before deciding, thats more advice than just telling you to not get the Creative it just depends on how you intend to use it.
Thanks for all of that, the NAS with the Red WD confused me a bit and I didn't know my other options. Yeah that RAM is good I just thought the lower latency of the vengeance would be better. I would say my main use for the sound card would be varied a lot between surround and headphones using custom EQ's. I heard that the Asus don't have any EQ but I'll do my own research too.
Latency isn't important for gaming only really for encoding etc, but the 2133 RAM will most likely have a 1600mhx profile with better timings if you ever wanted it.
Ok yeah thanks, I think I'm now finally ready to start things with the changes to the WD Black 2 TB and the Kingston 16GB RAM everything looks good to go. Thanks again for all your help.
