View Full Version : Computer Case
I am after upgrading my house PC and have pretty much decided I do not want another Silverstone Fortress as the one in the office is enough. I have been looking around and found a nice case but never heard of the manufacturer before.
It's big and showy perfect for the occasional time I take it to guild events, and it looks pretty sturdy. However can anyone else give any other suggestions, please no antecs trying to have a different case not the same as everyone else :p .
Just thought I'd add this is the first case I've ever seen with front USB 3 ports.
i know you said no antec's but what about the lanboy air
I did consider the Lanboy air my only issue is I can't see it being silent plus dust build up is going to be massive, it's for a home PC mainly and will be playing films etc I don't want to hear fans during the silent parts.
I guess with the hardware you have cooling will be a big part of your decision, the cases you've pictured at the top do look a little enclosed, unless your going to use water cooling??
Cooling isn't an issue the case uses 2 230mm fans and some 140mm, plenty of airflow for anything I must say though after further research I quite like the idea of the Lanboy Air's positive air pressure system. I am only putting a i5 760 in it which should OC to 4.2ghz no probs on air cooling, but might just sit and wait till after Christmas for some nice price drops and a few nice new cases from Silverstone, Corsair, Coolermaster, and Thermal Take I've only seen design images but they look very nice.
Changed my mind again going for HAF X as it looks good has everything I need and can be run nice and stealthy when needed.
, please no antecs trying to have a different case not the same as everyone else :p .
so you are getting a HAF X ?huh?
i got a antec skeleton for same reason-and modded it - hey presto i havent seen another water cooled skeleton
I know the HAF x is kinda common, certainly not in the Antec's league for sales though, and being Coolermaster has a short shelf life as they will upgrade it about an hour after release :p . Plus with it's nice design I can already start to see a nice pattern to get it airbrushed by a friend of mine.
When I say "Antec's league" I'm talking 1200's etc I know how rare skele's are as a lot are like me don't mind a window (although don't really like em but they are ok without lights) but maybe a motherboard sitting on top is a bit too much :p . Just personal taste I guess, I would get a skele if I was rich and wanted a test rig.
got to admit the haf x is a beautiful case tho
Also comes with a very nice mouse which is good as I need a new one I tried the Mamba but it feels horrible to use so maybe this will be better, it has had better reviews than any of the Razers.
Case ordered (not with dabs as they don't stock it yet :( ) but also ordered new PSU and a couple of SSD's from Dabs should be ok with my current CPU and cooler (not replacing the E6600 till I see something performing amazingly better as there is no game or app that I can't max everything on with it overclocked.
Yea the haf x not really much different to mine (haf932) bar the side window mines a grill with a largerish fan,but great cooling in the high air flow towers all the same.People have done some really good case mods with them as well.
HAF X is huge (i thought Antec P190 was big) and very well packed look's good amazing quality. Just wait on my PSU and SSD's from Dabs now.
Got it all now just gotta find time that I am willing to live without my PC for a night while I build :p . I know it shouldnt take that long but the gigabyte board I use has a heatsink on the rear I've gotta hacksaw up to modify it to let me fix my cpu cooler properly instead of the way I have it fixed now (couple of bolts holding it a lot harder is some parts that others lol). Be nice to be able to overclock more take that E6600 to0 4.4 :p
Some new cases have recently been added to the dabs site if you guys are interested...
Love the looks of http://www.dabs.com/products/nzxt-phantom-white-enthusiast-full-tower-no-psu-77N2.html?fb=605 .
I'm waiting on this one[link deleted]
It does look very nice in red, but I've had coloured cases in the past and they seem to start looking dirty quickly and don't clean well amazingly though the only white case I ever owned never seemed to need cleaning.
