View Full Version : DisplayPort to DVI Dual-Link Adaptor
I have just built a new pc and have installed an ATI radeon HD 5770 graphics card. This card supports three monitors. It has two dvi out and one each hdmi and displayport. According to ATI to get more than two monitors to work together I have to fit an active Displayport to dvi dual-link adaptor. I have three momitors. The product they recomend is made by Accell, but dabs do not supply it. Has anyone any experience of multi displays and also where can I source this adaptor in uk, or if not a similar product. This adaptor takes power fro a usb connection.

The way I did it while testing once was mini display port to display port adapter, connected too display port to hdmi adapter then hdmi to dvi cable it worked out a lot cheaper and worked a treat. However dabs do sell this (http://www.dabs.com/products/startech-com-6-ft-displayport-to-dvi-cable-76LM.html) which skips a layer of my build although costs a bit more.
I have a displayport to dvi connector which I have tried, butIi can only get two of the monitors to work at the same time. reading the info from ATI the adaptor has to be active. The one recomended is by ATI is made by Accell and has a cable on it to connect to a usb port for power. The downside being it costs just over $100 + postage from USA.
The cable supplied by dabs is what I have created with a DVI cable and a displayport adaptor so I cannot see that working
Search for "Sapphire 44000-02-40R" That may be what you are looking for. I wouldn't specifically look for what ATI recommend, as they will likely have received a few quid to recommend that specific one. It's a bit like paying £50 for an HDMI cable by Monster when you can but one for £2 that does exactly the same job for £48 less.
Thanks. Found one on Amazom for £17.99 and free postage All reviews good, and from people with same graphics card as me (Radeon 5770). Should be ok as graphics card is made by Sapphire. Though disappointed because info regarding it should have been in literature supplied with graphics card
Yep - That's the one (I don't like to provide links or sites as it's Dabs forum). Maybe something Dabs should look at stocking as these kind of monitor setups become more popular.
