View Full Version : First time builder needs help!
Hi guys, I'm doing my very first pc build and need some help on compatibility. Going for a fairly budget gaming build.
Want to get the following parts:
MB: Asus M4A87TD EVO
CPU: AMD Phenom x4 965 BE
RAM: Patriot G Series - http://patriotmemory.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=5&catid=52&prodgroupid=120&id=934&type=1
GPU: GTX 460 Gigabyte 1GB OC edition.
Are all these parts compatible? Particularly the RAM?
Hope so as these parts aren't too much and seem to perform well for their cost.
Why not use one of our ready-made bundles to guarantee compatability of Mobo/CPU/RAM? An example with that exact mobo is below!!
They will work together without issue I would however advise against the Gigabyte 460 1 gb as someone who has had 3 of that particular card 2 have had faults, I would look at the EVGA ones.
Actually I'm going to change that to all 3 have faults the third was one I was given when a friend upgraded to 580GTX so don't really think about it but it does also play up with some horrible looking screen when the system comes out of sleep, I should also mention all 3 have different faults, the first that was returned crashed in games the one I am now trying to return has severe screen tear(looks like screen tear but happens on different displays) when opening webpages or changing between windows.
Hi Dunc, unfortunately I tried to get that bundle but your website was unable to handle a simple order I placed 5 days ago, and your CS was so inadequate that they didn't even reply to my numerous e-mails. Thanks for the offer none the less!
2o2o thanks for your reply. I heard that card had some issues however I believe that they were with the OC1 model and gigabyte subsequently released the OC2 model fixing issues and increased clock speed. Maybe I'm wrong?!
Well I'll be taking out the second card to return over next couple of days so I'll find what revision it is, but after the hell I've gone through with Gigabyte support I'll definately be pushing to change to EVGA card at least.
Thanks, point duly noted. Be great if u can update on here what the outcome is.
