Welcome to the forum. A couple of comments on the above.
You mention a motherboard but have not included a CPU. The board you mention can take Phenom II and Athlon II so you need to think about that. If you want a gaming PC, best bang for buck to go with that board is probably the AMD Phenom II x4 965 which is about £120. If your budget could extend a bit further, you should also look at the Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs for which you would also need a different board (socket 1155).
For the PSU, you really must go for a good quality brand. This is the one component that could kill everything else. Do not be tempted to go for a budget one. Good brands include Corsair, OCZ, Antec - but not Black or Best Value! For your chosen GPU, 500W should be sufficient.
The HDD and GPU are fine.
I'm not familiar with HyperX RAM so I will leave others to comment on that one.
For cases, they are so subjective that you are best off having a trawl to see if you can find one you like the look of! Don't go cheap as they tend to be flimsy, difficult for installation purposes and have rubbish cable management.
For optical drives, if you are happy with just DVD then go for the cheapest - there are Sony or LG DVDRW drives for around £12. Even if they do go wrong, at that price they are pretty much disposably. If you would prefer BluRay, you will pay a fair bit more but again LG do a decent one.
Hope that helps.
many thx dms,i realise my lack of knowledge will show through, but nothing ventured nothing gained.can you suggest a set up within my budget.(£500)this is all so new to me,and get a little confused by all the technical jargon,if you know what i mean!
I'll try but, like I say, some of the elements are subjective and my taste may not match with yours! And this is only a quick effort but at least it comes in under £500.

Hmm was getting ready to search for a setup but for the budget I think DMS has got it spot on, but like DMS said £80ish more would get you an i5 system.
