All Apple do is wrap something up that already exists in a flashy packet and set their marketing team to work. i hate them. so. much.

... but, there is an argument that Apple causes other companies to truly innovate. Apple has an army of zombiesque fanboys who will purchase the latest offering whatever the purpose, whatever the functionality, whatever the price. The result is that, in order to compete, other companies have needed to come out with a better product at a better price. Take the iPad - clearly tablets existed prior to this crock of excrement appeared on the market, but since its introduction, the tablet market has developed considerably. So is this ultimately better for the consumer? Discuss.

[edit] just to confirm I am not an Apple fan per se. I have never owned anything made by Apple and neither do I expect so to do in the future! But you have to admire their marketing ability (or perhaps its just the gullibility of those they target).

Actually I'd say Apple hold back other companies technology more than force them to innovate, there are so many technologies that were created long ago that simply were not implemented until now for example Dual Core mobile processing, and the only company that can possibly gain from this delay is Apple. I've bought HTC since the first XDA back when they were nothing more than a mobile OEM company and they always built right upto date until the iphone 3 came out (lets face it all older iphones were a joke). As for computers well anyone that just uses a computer likes Mac's, and anyone that knows computers knows that it's OS is best for video editing but isn't in the same league for anything else..... However the one major point to add at this point and it has been pointed out before.... the OS is the ugliest most ineffective and badly setup horrible waste of space there has ever been, perhaps Apple should buy out BEOS for a massive upgrade

[edit] oh and I'm not an apple fanboy (had to say it as i did say they can do something right ), and I did have a Mac and used to have an iphone( until I realised that even after it is Jailbroken it is still unbelievable restricted thank god for android).

Apple will always have an army of willing marks, I mean consumers, who drool over everything they make because they are shiny and people who don't have the intelligence to know any better, or who aren't capable of reasoning, always resort to shiny things as some kind of primeval instinct.

Alarmingly the number of these "Zombies" appears to be increasing.
