    Post Windows 8 sneak peak!

There is an article which i came across in a magazine called custom pc the other day! it was a sneak peak into windows 8 which i dont think is released until jan 2013/2014 i think... they have scrapped the editions of windows such as home, pro, ultimate and instead of that they have developed a store that you must pay cash for unlock different aspects of windows. it was a very interesting piece of what the future looks like for windows ( thats if the world doesn't end by then). I think i prefer this so you get what you need and pay for it not stuff that you dont.

    I recommend this magazine!

It is basically a version of windows based on the Windows Mobile 7 OS just more advanced, to be honest I don't like the previews of it , it looks like it will be another Windows media center so basically all pretty and nice and has a few week's novelty factor then you disable it all and have basic Windows again. There is one other problem of course the new system of paying for what you want will give Microsoft free range to sit and collect any information they want (I am at this point pretending that they can't do that already ). Of course we are still at least 18 months from a release so with any luck they will realise that Windows Mobile 7 isn't selling because people don't like the interface and that having a system that used individual feature licenses is going to create a big boost in Linux users, and god forbid more idiots using OSX.

I want to buy OSX just to see what its like just to lazy to pay for it. That is a big problem and also i guess its to stop people from downloading OS torrents too

I have OSX dual booting on my PC. I even paid for OSX and to be honest it has a few features I really like, but using it makes me realise why the market is still owned by Microsoft. If you have an Intel machine, getting OSX on it really isn't that difficult. You can do it with AMD but it's a bit iffy and crash prone. Solid as a rock on my Intel machine though.

    Overall its a bit...meh!!

If release is that far away, either Microsoft will change more and more features until it resembles something completely different, or the magazine is making a story based on rumours and speculation to shift copies.

It's not rumours the OS was shown by Microsoft although the information from what event it was shown looks like a development function so it is probably very early

I would disagree, in fact of the reviews and comments I've read from those that used actually though the interface was pretty slick. Let's face it Microsoft where always going to have a tough time entering the current smartphone market mainly because they came in very late when Apple and Android already had a firm foothold. Android took off in a big way because it appealed to OEM's who didn't have to do a lot of their own gruntwork in getting the OS up and running, it was just a quick license it off and bung it in.

Microsoft should have done one or two things differently like not charging app developers for submitting their apps, even if only for their first year signed up, it certainly might have encouraged a lot more. To be fair though, I think quality is more important than quantity and the other stores may have so many hundred thousand apps but really how many can you put on your phone, and what percentage of them is complete dross. More submitted apps equals more dross, and out of all those hundreds of thousands 99% of people will probably use the same variation of maybe 100 apps while trying out and deleting some of the rest.

If Nokia can hit the market with a good Nokia/Windows phone range, but more importantly absolutely attack the budget to mid range market with Windows Smartphones then they may have a chance. It will be a hard ask though to get a decent fast smartphone in that range, but doing so could be the saviour of Nokia and the foothold that Microsoft need and if there is one thing Nokia has always done well, it's good budget phones.

Ok this is second post as the first I deleted as I sounded like a "Negative Nancy" the general jist of the post was Nokia used to be good but were deluding themselves over the past few years believing their ageing OS could still compete, and (this really is no better than the first post ) teaming with Microsoft won't be the answer to their prayers it will be a brand which has very little reputation with their main target market (10-22 year olds just don't understand how amazing the Nokia 3210 was ), teaming with a OS that isn't competitive in the mobile market.
