HDMI Multi Media Harddrive

Can someone help me choose the right model for my needs.

I see Lacie are prominient in this market.

I have a wired and wireless network at home but wired connectivity does not extend to the living room where the television is.

I will be viewing on a FULL HD 52 inch plasma 1080 dpi or what ever it is called.( as opposed to 720 HD ready).

I have plenty of spare 3.5 inch 1TB harddrives but am concered about any whirling noicse that might interfere with viewing pleasure.

Also I would hope to convert the unit I buy to woireless with a wifi usb device.

Are the solutios with inbuil d harddrives baased on traditional HDs with moving parts.

Would using a a discounted first generation SSD solve any noicse issues from the player.

If so could you help me choose a unit with sata connectivity inside.

I wonder whether your best solution would be to go for something like the D-Link Boxee Box plus an unpopulated NAS enclosure into which you can install your 1TB spare HDDs and a set of homeplugs.

The NAS would be connected direct to your router which is presumably far enough from your TV to avoid any problems with mechanical HDD noice. The Boxee (which connects to TV) connects to the router through the homeplugs. You then have full access to internet TV, streaming media, iPlayer etc and to your media collection on the NAS.

[edit] I mention homeplugs since they are likely to be more efficient than trying to stream over Wifi. Wifi is OK but if your media files are anything over 4GB you will probably suffer from buffering/stuttering.
