    Delivery Anomaly

Just noticed something a little peculiar. As always, I'm looking for the next upgrade and am thinking of getting a Corsair H80 (no space for the H100) or the Kuhler 920. At the same time, I want 2x4GB of RAM for my parents' PC.

If I order just the H80/920 the delivery charge is £4.98. But if I order both the cooler and the RAM, the delivery charges jumps to £9.98. How come the delivery charge doubles when you add in something as small and light as two RAM sticks?!?!

I think it has something to do with items that are sent directly from supplier, although it has put me off ordering stuff a lot but if you try other RAM you will find some will not change the delivery.

Although i will say that price change is a bit more extreme than I get

Probably because light as it is, the memory has possibly slightly bumped the weight over into the next charge level.

They probably calculate weight on full unit weight so the RAM is prob down as 1kg

I've had a little play around with items. Selecting in stock RAM creates the same result. Also, looking at my basket, it registers the weight of the items (300g for the H80 and 34g for the RAM) so it should be calculating on the basis of actual weight. Interestingly, though, if I order either item individually, the delivery charge is £4.98, even for just 34g of RAM - so I guess that is the minimum for sending offshore. Ordering 2x the RAM keeps the cost at £4.98 so it must be that combining the RAM and H80 pushes the total weight over some kind of threshold - but a threshold that doubles the cost.

[whinge mode] What annoys me is that I could order the two items separately and the total cost including delivery would be the same as ordering them together. Surely having to process two orders separately is going to cost Dabs more in terms of time, packaging etc. Very strange [/whinge mode]
