Had to laugh yesterday. First I was told off by Wolfman for venturing a bit too close to the opposing side's base making me think what a civilised group. Then a certain madam going by the name of Dominatrix turned my opinion around when she RPGd me as I was running around. RPG on infantry tsk tsk.

Getting back on topic... probably worth re-sending the email to Dunc. Unless you have now had a response!

It's a PITA trying to restrict weapons so I don't bother, deployments are different and I try no enforce a no shooting into rule. Even that's a pain or next to impossible to enforce on some maps. You are right though, there's nothing worse than people using RPG's on infantry troops, I mean it's not like it happens in the real world.

Don't remind me! Number one son is likely to be facing that kind of thing in the not too distant future.

Hi guys... right then here's the thing... I have got all the things I need to build my new pc, I am in the middle of doing an external build at the minute to check that it all works ok, I have built it all to the point of now connecting the power supply... that's my problem!

The power supply that I bought was the completely modular "Corsair AX 650", the manual that came with it is not really the best for a newbie! It just gives a VERY basic guide to connecting it up. Does anyone know of an in-depth guide somewhere that I can have a look at that shows you what cable connects to what, preferably with lots of pictures!

At the back of my mind I am just not 100% sure about the cables. For example the "24 pin" cable has two connections on the other end of it - a 18 pin connection and a 10 pin connection, I am guessing that both 18 pin and 10 pin connections need to be made at the power supply.

And the PCI-E cable, it has at one end a 6 pin connection and a 2 pin connection as well, do I just leave the 2 pin connection not connected.

I know this may seem a very basic question but I just want to be 100% sure of all the connections that I make. So if anyone knows of a good reference guide to ALL the connections that I am going to have to make I would be very grateful.

    Thanks for your help.

I don't know of any guides however can answer some questions, the PCI-e cable if you only need 6 pin's then that is all you plug in leave the other 2 hanging they are not needed. The 24 pin is something I have not come across yet it is to add support for a new ATX standard that isn't in use on any motherboards yet however you should plug both the 18 pin and the 10 pin into the PSU then the 24 pin end into the motherboard the 4 extra connections are used simply to supply more reliable power to the motherboard when needed the motherboard determines how much power it uses not the PSU so it won't get too much power. The only thing I am uncertain of with that PSU is the CPU 8 pin connection hopefully that is made obvious by looking at the cable.

Thanks a lot for that 2o2o... that is a big help... with regard to the CPU 8 pin connection the cable is as follows - at one end is one 8 pin block... at the other end of the cable is two blocks of 4 pins... does it matter which way around this cable is connected?

I know these are really simple questions... I just want to be 100% sure!

    Thanks for your help.

The normal way to attach it is the 8 pin into the PSU and the 2x4 pins into the 8 pin socket on the motherboard.
