Question Avatar's and Profile Pic format

    Hi all,

Is there any reason I can't use a PNG for my avatar?

Would it be possible to include this support or possibly even support for a site like gravatar.com?

It's just not supported - you will have to convert it to a supported format first

I did just notice that another member's avatar is a png though, which seems a little strange. Will convert it sometime, only got paint on here and it's killing the alpha transparancy.

Sorry for double posting, but there's another issue..

I've now tried uploading a PNG (other's are using them, so it's obviously me having a problem), a jpg and a gif and none of them have worked. All I keep getting is a 'Invalid File' error. The files all fall within the required spec (less than ##KB & ##px by ##px), even tried uploading a 60px by 60px gif that's 3.72KB as an Avatar and got the same error.

When I try linking to the file using the URL i get another error: 'Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file.'

Any thoughts anyone, I'm really hoping I've not missed something stupid?

Just as proof here's the images in each format:

Sounds like the vbulletin folder for avatars has had its write permission removed.

It is locked down pretty tight (damn backlink spammers) - but I've manually changed your rights - so it should be doable - I will take a look over the weekend
