    Recommend me a monitor!

Hi guys. Original plan was to buy a new PC this month but I can't now so going to get a monitor for the time being.

Could anyone recommend a good 22" or above (pref 24") monitor for a budget of €200? It will be used to play games occasionally so I don't no if I should get one of them 120hz monitors or is there any better option available? I mainly watch movies, tv etc on it so something with a nice colour and big display would be great!

Also should say that I would like to be able to use it for the Xbox and blueray if possible

    Thanks if anyone can help.

    Edit - What about this?

In my opinion, as limited as it is, it will come down to your PC's spec as well. You'll only majorly benefit from a 120hz monitor if you can run the game at 60FPS. If that's only possible by lowering your graphics settings below High, I'd ask myself if it's really worth spending the extra money. With movies/TV the image can be slightly less blurry though using a 120hz screen. An IPS screen will give you a better colour rendition, however I'm not sure what they're like for movies, but they typically have refresh rates lower than 120hz.

The Iiyama screens are lovely!! I was looking for a 22" one a couple of months ago and ended up getting the 27" Iiyama with no complaints yet . I'd recommend having a look at the ASUS VE247H. It's a slightly smaller screen, but has a higher dynamic contrast ratio however there's no mention of what it's static contrast is though. It also has a slightly higher refresh rate, lower power speakers, the same brightness and a slightly lower power consumption, otherwise they seem pretty similar.

The other thought I'd have is whether it's worth spending the extra money on a feature that might only benefit you occasionally. I'd rather use that money else where or on a a better screen that will benefit you more frequently in other ways (higher resolution, brightness, design..).

    Thanks for the reply DreamingSheep.

Thinking about it your right yeah, no point getting one that I'm only going to benefit occasionally. So what do you think of the Iiyama one? I quite like it.

Is there any other ones you'd recommend? I'd like a 24" one at the least. The bigger the res the better

I have the Samsung SyncMaster S27B550, it is a 27" monitor. I got it for £220 (so just a tad outside the €200 limit) and I am very happy with it. My previous monitor was a 23" Samsung monitor and I sold that on to a friend of mine for £75 so essentially the new monitor cost me £145.

I still have my 15" Samsung SyncMaster 570V TFT which I bought in either 1999 or 2000 and it is still working perfectly and not a single dud pixel.
