I've got to agree with DMS on this one, Sony (as well as almost all other manufacturers) provide the blumph for retails to display as part of their POS [Point of Sale], much like RRP/MRP's[Recommended Retail Price/Manufacturers Recommended Price or other variations thereof, including manufacturers names]. A lot of the time manufacturers will insist on the text not being changed as this is their already agreed marketing and provides consistant information across multiple platforms and countries.

Larger companies, such as Tesco, Comet, B&Q, etc may be able to influence changes to their blumph due to their size and the potential they have to order in stock of items relevant to their business. You'll find smaller companies may not be as lucky and could face losing their contract by making changes to the blumph's wording.

I don't know what's Dab's stance is on the matter but ultimately the blame would be on Sony in this case. It will however be interesting to see what response is given.

As it wasn't covered in the original reply, HD ready is normally indicative of 720p (1280x720).
There's also others like QFDH [Quad Full High Definition] which is 3840x2160 and will gradually be adopted in the UK, hopefully in the coming years.
Finally for now there's also UDH [you guessed it, Ultra High Definition] which is 7680×4320.

    Sidetrack:
Can't wait for that to come out and confuse the poop out of people who find they'll need to upgrade their TV's all over again and at which point there will probably be some resolution far greater than that due out too. Increased pixel density (PPI) will make for even crisper viewing too, if they ever choose to do it, however it's very unlikely as almost everything designed for PC's is based on 96PPI and would look tiny on the monitor if not upscaled. Imagine a computer monitor with the same PPI as an iPhone 4 (monitors are typically 96PPI and the iPhone 326PPI) and with UHD you would natively have a 27" widescreen monitor that you would barely be able to distinguish a single pixel on, no matter how close you get to it. O yes!!

The system is fully automated, all SKU's lookup the details from the part code and populate the website. The info can be manually edited though, in this case it looks like either Sony supplied the incorrect data to our provider of this service or our provider got it wrong.
