as title suggest i am on the market for a new rig. nothing fancy, just something to handle some work and light gaming, like - Guild Wars 2 - just to name but one. the current rig performs well for what it was originally intended. however games corrupted my life, unfortunately without a vid card i can't quite enjoy laggy game play.
i know - why don't i just get a card. well i had one ASUS ENGT430 LP but by the time i managed to get my hands on that 350W+ PSU that would fit inside my slim case i found myself on the phone with ASUS support team trying to figure out why it ain't getting recognised. so to cut long story short most of my rig gets recalled so i need something else as a replacement.
and this is what i came up:
Gigabyte Z77MX-D3H-TH S1155 Intel Z77 DDR3 mATX
can't decide between the two - Z77MX-D3H - slightly lower end model and not that much of cash gap.
Intel Core i5-3570K S1155 3.4GHz 6MB
CPU is expensive but couldn't find anything cheaper that fell into 65W with acceptable GHz:€ ratio so bit the bullet and settled with this one.
Patriot Memory 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3 1600MHz Viper 3 Black Mamba DIMM CL9
another pricy item - memory - especially when i only plan to use half of it. one of not many that fit the description - 8GB stick's 1600MHz/PC3-12800 CL9 - will probably opt for something else later.
Kingston 120GB HyperX 3K SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" Solid State Drive
60GB didn't quite cut it when games started to creep in. so upgrading to next gen 120GB.
ODD - LG GH24LS50
just something to occasionally read/write optical media.
SilverStone 450W SFX ST45SF-G
did i mention that this all has to be powered by 450W SFX power supply. yes i am fitting everything into slim line pc case.
Asus GeForce GT 640 901MHz 1GB PCI Express 3.0 HDMI
one of the two PCIe 3.0 cards that could fit into intended case so i opted for low profile instead of full height. yes the internal configuration of my case allows for full height cards but unfortunately with single bracket slot.
let me know what you guys think.
advice/suggestions are very welcome.
