Not sure on how a general return due to fault would work as you don't have the fault in testing it took heavy load for 2 years (simulated) for it to happen, but of course the problems with returning as a fault is you are returning to a manufacturer there would be a considerable wait for a replacement/refund under a normal return policy. So you wouldn't take advantage of the fact that you will have your new board before you have to return your old one, but at the end of the day it would be assumed you bought the board that suits your needs. In reality there is next to no difference in the boards anyway you might get a couple of extra SATA ports (which are inferior to the intel ones anyway) couple extra USB, a nice Intel wired network (2-3ms latency improvement gotta be pretty hardcore gamer to have that make a difference) and the NF200 chips which is good but only makes things more organised you still don't get 3 16x PCI-e GFX slots (think I went kinda negative on the extras there )

I understand your points (even the negatives lol) but I have always believed that a purchasers point of contact is the retailer and not the manufacturer, especially after only 2 weeks, sales of good act/statutory rights and all that? Not that im about to kick up a fuss with Dabs I was just wondering. I am happy to bide my time for a replacement board via the correct channels etc, i.e.; Dabs let the customer know when the time is right and the boards are swapped as quickly as possible so there is least disruption for all parties concerned

Well I am just a mere forum user I don't know what dabs think but I've just noticed that your using a Gigabyte group and as they are one of few manufacturers without return information they might be working towards organising through retails anyway. However you have the UD4 which to me in the gigabyte range is the best price 2 features board in the range the UD5 and UD7 are overpriced.

I also have the UD4 and originally had debated going with the UD7 or UD5 but really the extra features to cost was in my opinion not good. The only real benefit for getting a UD5 or UD7 is that you will pay more VAT and the UK deficit will reduce quicker. It will be interesting to see how the swap out will go though.

I agree Cmdrx3, before buying the UD4 I also considered the UD7, I just couldn't justify all that extra money though.

Don`t believe that nonsense about the "2 years testing" (simulated).I have 6 of my sata slots in use and am getting transfer speeds between drives that makes usb 2 look fast!
I only have my board approx 6 weeks.
The statement about 2 years use, is all damage control.

They do also say it's luck of the draw as to when it should happen but a few sites have run these synthetic tests with the same results, either way if all 6 ports your using are slow then your problem is something else as only 4 ports on any board have the fault so I would run some tests on them all.

Not all the ports affected but if what i`m doing requires the affected drives to be used then it doesn`t matter how fast the drives on the good ports are.The bottom line is that i`m running out of space and the two spare drives i have sitting here beside me are not even worth installing, as transferring files at 4MB/s is not exactly productive.
I currently have 3TB internal plus a 120gb ssd boot drive installed and also a 1.5TB external drive and all are close to full.I do a lot of hi def video work and also need so much space for backing up people files for pc`s i`m fixing.
Everyone needs their pc for different reasons and i am probably not your average user.
Oh well, it`s back to juggling files and trying to find possible unnecessary stuff for deletion.
