- Rep Power
Making an unashamed attempt to win the xBox Kinnect thing I figure an intro post is the thing ... on the (slightly) less self-serving side, if I won the xBox bundle two people would benefit, my 21 year old daughter would get my current xBox for free
The 6 places (online shopping for PC stuff) I tend to frequent on the internet are ****** (not so good for PC stuff but pretty good for DVD/Blu-Ray & TV's), Play I use for films, **** (used to be where I'd shop but a bit pricey these days), Dabs (pretty good), ****** (also good) & eBay ('nuff said). I sell stuff on eBay and use the money in PayPal to buy things so I tend to buy mostly from eBay & ****** simply because of PayPal ... I think you can use PayPal for Dabs but you have to go via Google or something which I try not to use on the basis that it's just another level of complexity I don't need. I do, however, keep a close eye on Dabs prices and have often bought from them.
In terms of IT I am an IT Professional and I have in the past tended to buy stuff that is not the best but maybe a year behind the times ... mainly that's a financial thing (I can't afford the latest and greatest) but partly philosophical, why buy the latest and greatest if it's going to be out of date as soon as it hits your desk? Nowadays I'm much less bothered although recently I did upgarde my system to a Core i7 with 16GB, SSD boot and a second hand 30" Dell monitor) ... no reason why (because I can) so now I need to think of something good to do with it.
I tend to buy a lot of DVD's and am starting in on blu-ray ... I have a 42" LG LCD TV (******), with a cheap F&H blu-ray player (******) as well as a custom built media PC (eBay) and an xBox (Christmas present couple of years ago). I spend most of my time playing xBox games (currently "The Force Unleashed, Ultimate Sith edition" & "Avatar"), watching many different movies (though "Avatar" is my number 1 at present, debating (I'm an atheist, very pro-science and owner of the Geekanology & "Science, Just Science" forums communities) and doing extremely geeky things like learning the fictional language of tall blue people (which is where my current handle comes from).
So that's it ... atheist, geek and science adherent but I make up for it by looking cool (leather duster 'n all), LOL!
