Great little product for the money...shame about the reliability

It took me a while to set my router up, (a simple subnet issue in the end) but once it was set up, it worked like a dream for almost 11 months, the connection would occasionally drop but that was the USB stick that wasnt up to scratch.
But about a week ago i had to get in touch with 3com as the router appears to be overheating and it takes me 15 minuites for it to connect to the internet. Therefore i am now awaiting to hear from them...i will repost another review when they do.

Excellent Router Rubbish Drivers

This router is fantastic value for money and I had it working within 5 min of opening the box, but as for the drivers that come with the stick, don't go there. Just throw the disk in the bin and things will go a lot more smoothly.

3Com for £50? Go for it. respected company in our corporate networks. Only fault is the length of time it takes to re-establish a connection - only had to do this twice when configuring wireless secuirty. Previous Belkin router was OK but overheated - this one runs cool.

I previously purchased a standalone wireless Buffalo Airstation and after that a Netgear wireless Router and neither of the damn things worked. Lucky that Dabs is good with returns. However.... I installed the 3COM router AND wireless USB adapter in less than 20 mins and unbelievebly it worked straight off! From now on I buy 3COM (even if the product is damn ugly!). End of.

Easy modem router
Reviewed by Mark. Review Posted 30/09/2006
After swift Dabs delivery in less than 3 days a quick read of setup booklet had me a little worried! I needn't have been. Plugged the wireless modem router into my PC with supplied ethernet cable, and to broadband microfilter then started the PC. PC detected the ethernet connection automatically and was able to use web browser to access router setup as per instructions. All I needed for the setup wizard was my broadband username and password as the router seemed to have detected all the correct ISP settings and it was up and running. Internet is even running quicker now than with the modem my ISP originally supplied! Next was setup of wireless network with my laptop. Easy as well but advise to setup encryption as other people can use your network or hack into your system! Excellent piece of kit which allows up to 4 PC's to be wired to the router as well as wireless conections, so far no problems and am writing this review from my wireless laptop!

Ordered 1.00pm on Thursday, arrived 9.10am on Friday so great service. Excellent product. Very easy to configure, particularly the encrytion features. Paper handbook was of use but the installation CD was more helpful. I am now sharing internet connection over two wireless lap-tops and will use the free USB dongle if I buy a desk-top

With the usual quick service I take for granted from Dabs I set this up for 3 pcs within half an hour. That included installing 2 Ralink PCI wireless cards. I've never set a router up and found configuration straightforward via the web menus and the book. Recommend it to first time wireless people, tho there is a 4 port LAN for wired systems too. (3com recommend the initial config is done via a wired connection and supply the cabling for it in the box.)

I have tried linksys (range problems) D-link (kept disconnecting), US robotics (stopped transmitting on day 10). This is the one that has been great, no problems, on the box it says set up in 15 minutes & thats exactly how long it took, good range, dosent disconnect. great value for money.
