I found it easy to fit an old hard disk into the enclosure and Windows 7 recognised it right away. The slightly tricky bit was that I had to go into computer management in the control panel to format it, maybe as the disk had been used previously in a hard disk video recorder. The instructions aren't bad, but are written for Windows XP.
