Great case - replacement PSU pricey

I had the predecessor for 5 years + with no problems, but the PSU has just started to die.

Unfortunately a replacement PSU is about £50! (and I can only find it in one place).

Trouble is I can't find any equivalent sized case so will probably buy another!

Great little box!

I got this to build a modest spec unobtrusive second machine. With a £40 MATX mobo (MSI P6NGM-FD) using onboard graphics, £104 CPU (Core 2 Duo E6550) with supplied fan, £16 of RAM (Kingston 1GB DDRII 800MHz), and a £30 SATA 200GB HDD, I have ended up with a nifty little machine that speed-wise knocks spots off my main machine (3GHz P4 HT), yet runs virtually silent and as cool as a cucumber.
As for ease of assembly, I found no problem slipping the mobo in from the side with the PSU in situ. Space is a little confined when getting the power connectors onto everything, especially the HDD and CD ROM as the cable lengths from the PSU were not overly generous.
One warning - this box won’t take a standard ATX form factor PSU. The supplied PSU seems to be a completely non-standard shape, so one slight worry is that if the PSU dies, then getting a replacement may not be easy.
You have to expect some compromises, so overall I like it a lot and would buy again.

Great Case

This is my first purchase of a cube style case and i'm very impressed. Its small enough and quiet enough (almost silent)to be used as a media center, at the same time its got room for several expansion cards. My previous media center cpu idled at 45C this sits at about 30C (Athlon x2 4000+ in both systems). I have the 300W psu verion, which limits the graphics card slightly, I have a fanless 8500gt installed which runs no problem,so im glad to see they have increased the power.

Mixed feelings

Pluses-Top and sides easily removable for access, typical Antec construction, very sturdy and should be quiet and fit under TV well

Minuses-internal power leads VERY short, 3SATA 4molex. No 6pin 12v for planned graphics card! Tight to work in but I expected that.

Mixed- looks a bit cheap for an £80 case

Small but flawed

I bought this to house an old Athlon 2200 Mobo for use as a media centre PC. Installation was easy, apart from the poor quality clips mentioned by another reviewer. The power cables are very short - if your mobo has the power connector on the 'front' side of the board you might struggle to make it reach.
The PSU is small and the 12cm fan is quiet, but the CPU sits partially underneath the PSU which limits your choice of CPU cooler.
I've found that the cooling in this case is not that great - my CPU runs quite hot and it's hard to keep the motherboard temperature down. It was supplied with an ingenious outlet fan that fits in a spare PCI slot and blows air out of the back, but it's quite noisy and doesn't move a lot of air. That's why I give it a 4, but for the price it's hard to complain.

Amazingly fiddly...

This is a very nice looking case and quite small. All the parts I bought fitted in nicely with just enough room for airflow. The only bad thing I have to say about this case is that the motherboard posts are absolutely terrible. It uses snap fit clips, which don’t fit correctly. After about an hour I finally got them all in and got them to stay in after bending the parts of the case they fit into. WHY NOT JUST USE SCREW IN ONES. Once built though it is a very quiet system, quietest I've ever seen.

Costly cast - blew 2 motherboards

I've had 2 of these, and to be honest, the first was great, that's why I bought the second. Sadly the second blew the first motherboard I put in it. I suspected the board at first, but after ordering another, well, it blew that too.

Unfortunately I had a few months break before I could really look at it again, and it's too late to return them, so all in all this case has cost me nearly £200. Ouch!

Think carefully....

I purchased 3 of the previous version of this case (with the 300watt PSU) 6 months ago. It is a solid, neat looking and well made case, and until recently I would have given it 5 stars. Unfortunately 4 weeks ago a PSU in one of the cases failed, and Dabs have been unable to provide a warranty repair or replacement. Today the PSU in a second of the 3 cases has failed. PSUs are probably the most unreliable part of a PC. If a standard ATX power supply fails it is a simple task to swap in another. With a non standard one like this, the PC is out of action until you can source the replacement. Unless the PC has to be this small, get a case with a standard PSU !
