Cool And Quiet
Reviewed by Adrian. Review Posted 24/06/2011
I bought this cooler to replace my version 7. It's a lot bigger, mainly due to the 120mm fan over the 92mm. Make sure your case is big enough.
It's very quiet, I can't hear it over my case fans, and they're almost silent. All I can hear is the airflow.
Idling, my Phenom 955 is 31C. Mid range it's about 40C. Running full load on all 4 cores and it's less than 50C. The fan rpm goes up but it's still near silent. Overkill for what I want, but gives me room to overclock and cools the northbridge with a 50mm fan.
One downside, not really the fault of this cooler. My Gigabyte motherboard only has one lug either side to hold the cooler, not the 3 of my old board. It's stable, it won't move but it made it a little harder to install. Yet still better than the old design, 2 screws and it's on in less than 5 minutes.
Excellent cooler for an excellent price.
