What a great board Asus M4A785TD-V EVO AM3
Reviewed by Ian. Review Posted 28/10/2010
This has got to be the best full ATX board I've ever used in my own rig. Usual very high end Asus quality. I'm running the latest dual core AMD 3Ghz processor which overclocks at the touch of a button on this board to 4Ghz. The onboard HD grahics must be the most powerful I've seen and used, as is the HD sound. May try a seperate grahics card eventually for very high end games, but for now it's fine as it is...it plays most games ok. I run Linux Ubuntu 10.10 LTS and it runs fine on this board. ATI Radeon found me online and automatically sent their latest proprietory grahics driver which installed automatically, so I now have all the whistles and bells visually. The board has many features all of which work well with easy to update bios's. Plenty of future proofing here, loads of connectors onboard for fans etc. Great service from Dab as usual and very very good price. Get this board if you like performance and future proofing.

I purchased this motherboard with an AMD Phenom II 550 AM3 and was really pleased to find that the motherboard was able to activate 4 cores.

Great Mobo!
Reviewed by Yewzi. Review Posted 21/01/2010
I recently upgraded to this mobo pairing it with a new AMD Phenom II 965 at 125w and it runs a treat! Must say that at first i thought that it was a dead one because it would not turn on. After hours of troubleshooting it ended up being a faulty power switch... I'm so relieved that i don't have to spend another fortnight waiting for a replacement. Moral of the story: If it isn't working troubleshoot EVERYTHING even if it's as insignificant as a power switch!

A beautiful board
Reviewed by TonyH. Review Posted 27/11/2009
I ordered this board along with many other components to build a (fairly)cutting edge AM3 ddr3 rig with an Athlon II X4 620 quad core processor, etc.
I've built a couple of pcs before for personal use, but have not seen a motherboard built & designed to this high standard before, nor a more elegant board which will look pretty through the side of the case.
It's simply beautifully built & packaged, 4 SATA leads + an IDE cable supplied, plus other thoughtful connectors, plus backplate for the external peripherals engineered perfectly to fit the new case I bought.
I thought it was a miniATX board, but it's a big full-sized board, bristling with ports & connectors. Also an amazing price for such a powerful future-proof ddr3 dx11 board.
I can't wait to put this rig together.

instability issues
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 01/03/2011
like the previous reviwers, I have suffered with the instability issues. But unlike the last poster. After changinging cpu, memory power supply hard disk I went out and bought another ( i had all the bits) But still the same issue. so its a motherboard fault.
contacted Asus and they suggested removing the battery and restiing the mobo. I did , and i have had a small amount of success. but the computer does crash far to often. I expect there is a simple solution but i have no idea.
Need to wait for an opertunity to change. My suspect though is windows 7 . just vhave a feeling.

Ram a lam a ding dong
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 15/02/2011
I fitted the board with two 2gb compatible Ballistix RAM sticks. Everything on "auto" in the BIOS results in crash after crash after crash. System freezes; BSOD and memory dumping. It turn out that a "very" large number of people have been experiencing identical issues with this particular board.
So, following the advice given in a multitude of forums it was back into the BIOS to try some manual adjustments to the RAM settings. Some proved to be reasonably stable for a time, others brought on the inevitable above mentioned symptoms much quicker. Non achieved lasting system stability.
I bought this board because I enjoy computer building, It's ok being spoilt for choice regarding settings, but ultimately what one wants with a computer is a stable, useable system.
The RAM issues with this board are too numerous to mention here. The point is that if I knew before I bought this board what I know now I wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole. As it is, I'm stuck with it.
