A puzzling installation
Reviewed by Dave C. Review Posted 02/11/2005
Visually, this is clearly up to Belkin's usual high build quality. It comes with very little guidance, either in the printed literature or on the CD. Installation on my 3 year old Dell XP Pro PC did not follow expected routine - there was no "new hardware detected" message, it just installed itself "silently" picking up an outdated XP driver in the process which seemed to only support 400. I had to manually run the CD to update the driver for 800 support. That aside, its working superbly with my LaCie external drives.

Belkin Firewire 800 card

Usual Belkin high build quality but a bit pricey. Quirky installation. Got none of the usual "New hardware detected" on my XP PC but it had installed itself, picking up an old XP driver in the process. I had to manually instal the driver from the CD to obtain FW800 performance. Despite that, it works very well with my LaCie external drives. Recommended.

PCI-64 card
Reviewed by Neill. Review Posted 22/01/2007
A word of warning. This is a PCI-64 card. Belkin do not make this clear. Most motherboards only have 32 bit PCI slots. The card will then only work at 400Mb/s, not the full 800MB/s. Also, the extra pins hang over the back of the 32 bit PCI slot and could short out on other motherboard components.
