It's so cool !
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 01/02/2009

Having used a pair of Belkin 7633's with BT and Virgin broadband for over a year, without any problems, I thought I'd give the Belkin 7634 a try. I've now been using it quite heavily for about 1 week, connected to my Virgin broadband circuit, from two XP laptops using wireless WEP-64. I'm online 7 hrs a day via VPN pass-thru to company network, and then online several hours most evening for MMORG (multi player online games). I also do a fair amount of e-mail, web searching, surfing and shopping. For me reliability (no disconnects) and fast response are essential (for games). So far, the Belkin 7634 has been great. It's a bit sluggish during initial setup but once connected to ADSL everything runs very sweetly. One very nice surprise is that both the router and power block run quite cool compared to earlier models. For the price (and my needs at least) this is a great little b/g wire and wireless ADSL2 modem router.

Belkin 7634
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 30/01/2009

I have used Belkin 7630, 7632, 7633 and now I have 7634. Like earlier routers it is VERY easy to set up by browsing to address 192.168.2.1 but it is VERY sluggish during setup and initial configuration. So some patience is required, especially when not connected to ADSL line. In-experienced users will probably think its dead; but once configured plugged into ADSL etc its fine.

Cheap for a reason?
Reviewed by Carl. Review Posted 31/03/2009

In the end had to give up with this router and return it for a refund.
My existing Orange Livebox worked fine, my line sync'd at around 7000kbps and my real download speed was around 5000kbps. I copied all settings from my existing unit and even sought advice from Orange when this Belkin was going so slow, yet all to no avail. PPPoA with MTU 1492 (tried various other suggestions, none mattered).

The fastest I could ever manage was 1.8mbps and I assume this is simply due to being a cheap product? Response was sluggish and I even got removed several times from my favourite online games server for too high latency.

You get what you pay for I guess.

No touchy!
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 20/08/2009

As above, don't touch this thing, it's awful. You won't get more than 1.5Mb on wireless no matter what you sync at. It's fundementally flawed and should be avoided at all costs.

Avoid like the plague
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 02/04/2009

Pros:

- Good wireless coverage
- Ok web interface (why I gave it 3 for ease of use)

Cons:
- Bit limited functionality (e.g. no IP to MAC address assignment via DHCP which means you have to assign static IPs on PCs themselves)
- Peer To Peer apps using UPnP can cause it to hang frequently.
- no connectivity to WAN when setup with static IP, even though can communicate with other LAN PCs
- 1.5Mbps max throughput on line with connected rate of 7.6Mbps and IP profile to match.

I advise anyone thinking of getting one of these to step back and look at another brand.
