Does what it says

If you have a USB 2.0 PCI card or only have free ports at the back of a PC this is ideal to extend the port to the front of a PC for say an external hard drive or USB data key. It is also great for extended a USB mouse or keyboard. It works perfectly at USB 1 or 2. Just make sure you don't get dust inside the contact area (blow it out with a puffer ideally = it's surprising how much fluff gets in there after a year or so). The lead is 5 ft long, well built and flashy enough to look classy and bright enough to find easily among the desk detritus. Plus it's often £10 cheaper from Dabs than the high street. Oh just buy one, they are very handy.

Problems with power transmission

This cable certainly looks the business with its helpful orange colour-keying and it seems to be well made; it worked with a memory stick. However, two that I tried wouldn't transmit enough power to drive either of two types of Freecom external USB-powered HDD. Both of these worked perfectly well when plugged directly into the USB port on the PC.
