I crashed after 14 months of use and I had to buy another router. I won't touch another Conexant again.

RJ45 was bust
Reviewed by . Review Posted 29/01/2004

bought this the other day, and the RJ45 port didn't work :-(
sent it back to dabs and they have refunded me - very good service.
I'll be purchasing the 4 port one once they're in stock - greater probability of a working RJ45 port :-)

this modem is rubbish
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 02/01/2004

I bought a PTI PAE-CE81 Modem. and cannot get it to work.

1. No USB drivers on the instal CD
2. Modem will not accept that the lan IS connected to the computer unless I connect it via a HUB
3. NO USB CABLE
4. NO Ethernet CABLE

What is going on with this Modem, I dont want to use
the LAN port but if I dont connect the LAN then the modem doesnt work, If I do connect the LAN from the computer to the modem it doesnt work, It only works if I coneft the computer to a hub and the modem/router to a hub. I just want to use the USB conection I DONT HAVE A HUB!.

Why are there not drivers on the instal CD for USB?

I can only assue that you are tring to go out of business as the only thing this product is fit for is a door stop!

Cheap modem

Initially this looks like a bargain. But there's no warranty and as above, mine broke while I was configuring it after only 10 months.

Product Changed For Worse
Reviewed by . Review Posted 19/07/2004

BEWARE - I've got an earlier DabsValue Conexant, with the AMX manufacturer code, which is running fine, lots of useful Internet resources. This current model is the same-ish hardware with different firmware. Had great problems with it, including menu options which crashed the internal webserver, and it eventually clammed up dead during my attempts to configure it. Got a replacement under RMA, which failed to connect to my ISP (ISP logs indicate no attempt to send the password during login, meaning it will work with the BT tests, but not real life). And again the second one eventually clammed up dead. Go back to the original supplier please!
