Excellent

This makes really good use of a 3.5" bay. Very easy to install - it just plugs into a USB connector on the motherboard, and no drivers required. Very fast and convenient with Ubuntu. The manufacturer is Sweex.

Worked fine

Was easy to install, had no problems with mounting the drive or finding the 9 pin connection on the mother board (Different for each motherboard). Plug and play, I have not even bothered with the cd it came with. Can't say I have tested all the card slots due to lack of the actual cards... SD one works super fast compared to running a SD card through a peripheral devise. Only issue I have is that the hardware causes windows' "safly remove hardware" icon to continue to display after using other plug and play storage devises (mp3 player/ flash stick...), no biggy though. Well worth it. Thanks Dabs

Installation was so straightforward, just make sure you orientate the USB header properly on your motherboard. Excellent value for the price

Pretty good for the price

I'll just fill in a couple of holes in the description - it's a 3.5" card reader with slots for SD, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Compact Flash and a spare USB port. It connects to the motherboard using a 9 pin plug and is made by a company called Sweex. All in all, I can't complain about the product - it worked straight out of the box and seems to do everything I expected it to and is very good value for just over £7. Just be careful of the connection method and that it will work with your motherboard.

One of the Reviewers mentions this doesn't work with Vista 64-bit. Is anyone aware if this works with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit?

Flawed Gem

The reader comes with an internal cable terminated with a 9 pin plug which connects onto a motherboard header. The device works straight away as all drivers are included within Windows XP (would imagine it would be the same with Vista). A Driver CD is included but all this does is change the icons for the device within My Computer. Looks nice though!
The bad news was that the build quality of the reader was terrible. I had to remount the circuit board before the holes of the reader ports would allign with the ports themselves. The PC mounting holes for the reader were also not threaded and would not accept standard mounting screws, necessitating come creative improvistaion.
Bit of a shame really because the device works flawlessly once installed...

Faulty
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 20/01/2008
Bought this mainly to use with a micro-SD card using an adapter which works in an external reader I already had.
Have found that the SD port will only register the card with constant pressure applied to one side so is in effect un-usable.
XD card worked fine in adjacent port but due to SD port not working very disappointed with this.

Doesn't work on Vista 64
Reviewed by Simon. Review Posted 03/02/2009
I bought this and was unable to get it working on vista 64bit. The manufacturer is Sweex CR005V2 their site doesn't list a driver, so don't buy if you have vista 64bit
