Question
Reviewed by Andrei. Review Posted 06/03/2012

Hello, I am interested in the power suply unit 'Best Value Alpine 500W PSU 120mm Red Fan'. I see most of the user comments are god about it, but I also see a feedback that is negative and says that it intereferes electrically with other devices, like the phone landline. From your experience , is this power supply unit good, does it have interference with the devices in the house? I am interested in a power suply unit that gets the job done, nothing fancy, but I do not want it to interfere with other devices from my house. Please give me an honest answer, if it does have some issues I'll go for a more expensive one, but I'll still buy it from dabs because I am really happy with the customer services and everything :). Thanks and regards, Codita Andrei

great power supply cant understand the bad reviews
Reviewed by martin. Review Posted 22/02/2012

as the tittle says i cant understand the bad review, im not using this psu for a computer but a rc lipo charger which puts more strain on it then a pc. im running this psu for 5 hours a day straight pulling 22amps/250 watts constant and the psu stays cool, 34c tops. the only bad thing is that under load the voltage drops to 11.65v, which is no problem for me but could cause some problems for heavy load use on a pc for the price this is a amazing psu

This great, little PSU is currently powering my system which is my file server, main storage device and gaming system.

It was easy to install in the case and had more than enough Molex and SATA power connectors for all of my four hard drives and one optical drive.

It doesn't come with a three-pin wall outlet cable, but how many PSUs do. My system runs 24/7 and has not lost power since being turned on in January. Its fan runs very quietly and smoothly.

It's currently powering:
An ASUS P5G41C-M LX. (6P4HWS00)
An Intel Pentium E6500. (6L8LWS00)
2GB of Kingston Value RAM. (67FVWS00)
A 160GB Seagate Barracuda. (5K3HWS00)
A 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3. (65QCWS00)
A 500GB Samsung Spinpoint F1 DT.
A 500GB Hitachi Deskstar.
An LG GSA-H10N optical drive.
An NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT.
(The parts with no (quicklinx) number are parts I already had.)

Amazing little PSU for its price and it's reliable.

Recommended.

Poor, cheap, nasty power supply
Reviewed by Dr K. Review Posted 01/11/2011

What's to say. 500 W version bought. Plugged into my computer, which worked fine with my 460 W supply. Mr Alpine blew up within 5 seconds. Put my 460 W back in, fortunately everything is still fine.

I'm not an idiot, everything was rigged up just fine. Conclusion; cheap, rubbish PSU. Time to open the purse strings...

alpine psu
Reviewed by sam. Review Posted 22/05/2011

received this psu as a 500w replacment for my current psu of which is now 2 years old but still in good condition but a little noisey. on opening the new alpine 500w psu I noticed have incredibley light the box was i was unsure if there was actually anything inside, however i found a black psu of which was very lightweight certainley not 2KG as stated. the psu actually weighs less than 1KG ? I fitted the psu and immediatley my mother reported that the telephone had interfierence when i switched on the psu as she was on a call? On closer inspection the psu seems to have no EMI filter or any signs of PFC infact the internal circuit board was redundant of several components I have sent this PSu to trading standards as products this poor should not be allowed to enter the UK I have advised dabs and they are in the process of refunding me . I have fitted my old FSP branded power supply back in to my PC ! regards sam
