SAMSUNG DVD±RW 22X S-ATA SH-S223B BLACK

The SH-S223 drive offers a powerful over-speed performance feature that enables consumers to burn data at high speeds - even on low speed media. As lower speed media is more cost-effective, users can save money while burning discs at faster speeds.

The SH-S223 drive supports SATA interface, the dominant interface for PCs.

Buffer Under Run Free technology supports stable writing under high speed, and Magic Speed and ABS (Automatic Ball Balancing System) technologies reduce vibration and noise. The SH-S223 is also eco-friendly designed and is RoHS compliant.

Sata on my older 754 mobo 4 yrs ago
Reviewed by cccccccccc. Review Posted 23/01/2010

To them waffling on about sata not having drivers for fresh install or not being compatible! Stop waffling lol this device is like any other sata and will work for fresh install as bios will notice. maybe this dude ad the sata set wrong to raid maybe?? The other guy about the age of his PC. Anything made within the last 3 maybe longer as ad an option for sata. my mobos i bought 2006 come with sata. its dell. you can also obtain sata/ide adapters but its wasting the drives speed. Over all this product is ideal. For £15 you get 22x speed. and it writes dvd/cd If your reading these reviews. how can you allow for opinions when equipment was not used

Technical error of reviewer
Reviewed by DAVID. Review Posted 09/10/2009

The reviewer is technically wrong, sata drives connect via the sata hard drive protocol and therefore don't need seperate drivers.

The bios is will boot from the dvd drive if setup to as first boot, the hdd is set as second boot option.

Motherboards come with drivers for sata installation.

Good until is died
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 20/02/2010

At £15 it's good value. It's quite fast.
Quiet.

However mine died whilst burning a DVD, and needed a replacement.
It's never happened to me before, so I won't buy this again.

Bought one of these earlier this year. After just 4 months and only a handful of disk burned it has stopped working completely. Will not longer read or write any discs!
