Lesson learned

I thought keyboards were one of those things that it was impossible to buy a bad one of. Through buying this keyboard I have learned what difference a lesser keyboard can make.
The backspace key on this keyboard is tiny. This gets annoying very quickly.
The keys are tougher than they should be too. I find myself hammering them when trying to type. This makes the whole process of typing a paragraph arduous.
This is what you get when you look for the cheapest keyboard. So the experience shouldn't have been unexpected.
At the end of the day the keyboard is fully functional and good value, but I'd recommend going to a shop and trying a few keyboards before commiting to something that will remind you of it's value with each keystroke.

Nowhere near as good as the old bestvalue keyboards

My biggest gripe about this keyboard is that they have moved some keys around and changed the size of others. Specifically the backspace key is now tiny so you can barely hit it, and the #~ key has been moved from its normal position up to the end of the number row. This means I am always mis-typing when I try and backspace something.
Also the key mechanism is so soft, it feels like I'm typing on a blancmange - some people might like this but not me.
The old bestvalue keyboards were much better for 3 reasons: first and foremost the keys where exactly where you would expect them to be, and where they have been on most keyboards for the last 30 years. Secondly, they keys had a bit of a give, and didn't feel like they were made out of jelly. Finally they also had power/sleep buttons on them which this keyboard doesn't (although they power buttons were close to the arrow keys so it was sometimes possible to shut off your pc by mistake so maybe its not a great loss!)
