Description

The ideal Internet and network solution for the home and small office environment. Perfect for streaming HD movies, music, and e-mailing from multiple PCs simultaneously. With speeds of up to 300Mbps, the Buffalo AirStation Nfiniti wireless router upgrades an existing wireless connection and provides greater coverage than wireless-G.

  • Wireless-N Standard Networking offers up to 300Mbps and better coverage
  • Enhanced Multi-Level Security WPA2, WPA-PSK (TKIP, AES) and 128/64bit WEP security are supported
  • Secure and easy Set-up with AOSS or WPS
  • Position vertically, horizontally or wall mounted

Buffalo AirStation™ Nfiniti™ Wireless-N Router & Access Point is the next standard Wireless router designed to 802.11n specifications. The AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS™) or Wi-Fi Protected Set-up (WPS) provides a quick and easy way to create secure Wireless connections within minutes. Each connected PC or laptop can use different security levels simultaneously. It is also possible to restrict access from other devices connecting with different encryption levels. For example TKIP/AES encryptions can be used for your PCs and WEP encryption for a gaming console simultaneously, but if someone tries to access the network using WEP encryption (which is the weakest encryption) they cannot access other devices connected via TKIP/AES. Internal antennae and compact chassis. Can be positioned vertically, horizontally or wall mounted.

Great for WDS

I don't often review products but noticed a poor review of this router by someone who couldn't set up WDS. Well I have three of these routers. The first is connected by RJ45 to my gateway router. The second bridges to the first and is used to provide me with internet connection for my a/v equipment in the living room (iPlayer, XBOX Live, etc). The third bridges to the first and provides me with an internet connection for my a/v equipment in the master bedroom. This is very easy to do with the web UI. DHCP is turned off on all three routers (the gateway router assigns IP addresses). The first router acts as a wireless access point as well as bridging to the other two routers. If you know what you are doing then these are amazingly good value for money routers. An easy five star purchase for me.

For such an inexpensive router, it's an amazingly good buy. It's a small, sleek-looking black unit containing some very capable internals; the open source dd-wrt firmware is available for it too.

Similar vein to other reviews; good value and quality all round.
Not fully checked out wireless range but my Nokia phone connects better thru this than it used to with the talktalk cheapo which I'm now using as the modem plugged into this kit. Quicker speed test as well (up from 7ish to 8+ mbps).

Delivered quicker than promised

Used this device solely as an wireless Access Point to my wired network. I mainly have my childrens' WiFi phones connected to this device. I have WPA/PSK (AES)encryption, with MAC address filtering with no SSID transmitted. This was very easy to set up via the Web GUI. Used it for the last two weeks without any problems. I would recommend this bit of kit to anyone. Very good. I have attached my wireless laptop, without any problems as well, just to see if I could. I have also configured it that wireless devices can modified the configuration. Just a device attached to the wired network. Also, I switched off AOSS, and the option that allows other Wirelss AP that can attach to this one. 10/10

The previous reviewer has a point. However, despite this the router is absolutely brilliant, particularly for the money. Some have made negative comments about the strength of its Wi-Fi signal, but my experience with it proved to be the opposite.
This router is great, and is excellent value for money. Highly recommended!

Just had this a couiple of days butI've used a lot of routers and this one isn't going to win a medal for being the easiest to set up, however if you read the notes section within the browser set up screens you should be okay? One worry though was the way my internet dropped off a couple of times when streaming video using Windows Media Player and an XBox 360 over a two hour period today. This is a good buy for the money and you wan't go far wrong.

Snap it up - it's a bargain if you know what you're doing

I'm writing this sitting in the garden as far away as I can get from the router, which is in a bedroom on the other side of the house. I'm downloading a file at a pretty respectable speed. The maximum signal close up to the AirStation isn't very high but it falls away quite slowly, the biggest jump being when I go outside.

The unit itself is very neat and compact and the web based interface is fine if you know what you are doing. The instructions would probably baffle people with little knowledge wanting to use it to extend coverage as I do. It didn't like the admin password I put in and I had to reset it to factory settings to get back in - eight characters including lower case and numbers. I put in a simpler one and the problem went away.

WDS doesn't work - don't buy as a range extender
Reviewed by . Review Posted 20/05/2011

Bought this to use as a range extender with my other buffalo router. Unfortunately, whilst it may work well as a wireless router, it doesn't work at all as a range extender. It is supposed to support the WDS protocol and it may do. However, I couldn't tell it was impossible to set up in its bridge mode. To start with, the shipped software couldn't even detect it (over a wired connection) and then when it did failed to log on to it. I had the same problem - when set as a router worked fine, but you can't set up the WDS when it is in router mode. (Specifically, it would not detect other wireless networks and would not remember manually entered settings.) And since you can't connect to it when in bridge mode - not wired, and since it doesn't transmit until you've set up in bridge mode, you're a bit stuck. Not even the AOSS auto set up work. So a dead loss as a range extender even with an allegedly compatible buffalo router generating the network to be extended. At least have taken it back
