The Canon EOS 1D Mark III is the most advanced EOS Digital SLR ever produced. It has a new 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor (APS-H size) with Canon's EOS Integrated Cleaning System and a 3.0-inch LCD monitor with Canon's Live View technology. The 1D Mark III has a redesigned 100% viewfinder, a new 45-point AF system, and can shoot up to 10 fps continuously with a maximum burst of 110 shots. Dual DIGIC III Image Processors work in tandem to speed up every process while refining image quality; a new, lighter body has improved weather sealing and shutter durability. Every facet of the EOS experience has been enhanced with the 1D Mark III. It's the new standard.

A truly excellent camera in every respect since the AF issues have been sorted out. Speed to burn, fantastic image quality at all sensitivities, impressive build and doesn't miss a beat. AF is now as good as anything on the market. Hugely improved ergonomics over it's predecessor. For sports and wildlife you can't go wrong.

Not sure if previous reviewer is aware, but autofocus issues have been resolved. I, too, own a 5D and have recently purchased this model. It is superbly built with a solid, professional feel and is intuitive to use. Functionality and performance are just what you'd expect from Canon. Have a look at the Canon website for latest info. Sure, early model released has some serious issues, but the are not apparent in the present batch.

Anyone considering the purchase of this camera should investigate the known issue concerning the inaccurate autofocus with this DSLR. At present there is no known fix and Canon are reported to be withdrawing these cameras from sale until such a time as the camera problem has been resolved.
I own a Canon 20d and Canon 5d which are excellent cameras but I won't be buying one of these until Canon sort the problem.
