"Also the cap design is terrible. the keyring loop should have been on the cap and not the body (or have loops each end) as its very easy to lose the cap with this design."
Think I'd rather lose the cap than the memory stick - not sure about you!

Slow

As others have said..this is slower than you would expect. Its the just a bit faster that the speed i get off a cheap 4gb flash drive that I had (mikomi), so if your buying this hoping that the "GT" tag means that it will be fast, then I wouldn't bother with it.
Also the cap design is terrible. the keyring loop should have been on the cap and not the body (or have loops each end) as its very easy to lose the cap with this design.
my average large file transfers tests show this unit to be about 20mb/s read and 8mb/s write speed..which is nothing to get excited about. for smaller files, the write speed is really bad at around 1mb/s->3mb/s.

Corsair 8GB GT still king for speed.

Samsung who make the flash memory for these drives changed from SLC “Single-Level Cell” NAND flash chips to MLC. The SLC chips are faster than the MLC flash memory used now to achieve usb flash drives over 8GB.
In tests some of the new 16GB and 32GB flash drives were only half the speed of the 8GB versions.

Disappointing after the 8Gb
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 16/04/2008
Just bought this, but it is a lot slower than the 8Gb, which I thought was very quick. This is only half as quick.
Had I known how slow it was, I wouldn't have bothered buying it.
I think there is something wrong with the design.
