Worked straight out of the box on Ubuntu Linux 9.10 with WPA Security. No tweaking or installing XP drivers with Ndiswrapper required.
It's quick, reliable and gives good signal strength.
A great value buy particularly for anyone on Linux.
It even has "Linux Support" stamped on the box. What more could you want!

Bought this as the "Edimax 802.11g 54Mbps PCI card" was out of stock at the time and I was looking for a reasonably priced internal option. Recieved promptly from Dabs as usual. Installed software from disk, plugged in card, followed setup and was worked straight away no messing. Signal strength is excellect, and very good for the neighbours! Connection speed easily as good as I get from my laptop so I'm very pleased overall. Cheap, Easy and Effective.

Another Linux success

Bought on the back of a review on this site. I can confirm the same experience as the other reviewer; this works out of the box with Linux Mint 5. No set up - just enter your passkey and your away. I've previously spent ages trying to get USB devices to work with limited success. With this card I was connected within a minute. Connection very reliable and speed is same for me as by Ethernet.

Works with Linux :-)

Card is also compatible with Linux OS, (along with MS Windows XP & Vista) I purchased this to go with Linux Mint and all works fine right out the box, so I'm very happy especially as it's less than £20 what more can you ask for? (None of this install software, shut down restart Windows malarky here in Linux world :-)) I live in a poor broadband area (1.5mb speed) and I don't notice a large lag in speed, 10% on average slower than ethernet connected, so well worth the money, and a damn sight better than running metres cable through the flat from one room to another. Unit also comes with back plate to fit card into standard PCI slot and mini PCI slot for smaller desktop PC's. Usual DABs fast delivery service, recommended.

Be very careful when installing with Vista

Had D-link DIR-635 wireless router working with 2 Wiis and PSP. Bought the DWL-G510 to enable a 2nd PC to access Internet. Purchased it with a fair amount of confidence after reading reviews. Unfortunately installation was not straightforward, ENDED UP RE-INSTALLING VISTA. My first attempt was to let Vista do the installation and inserted the CDROM when instructed. All appeared okay, it said the device was working properly, but it did not pick up my wireless installation. Next I tried putting the card in a different PCI slot and installing the software that came on the CDROM – BAD MOVE! Got “Blue Screen Of Death” whenever card installed. Software also installed program called WZCSLDR2.EXE; it loads every time you boot, complains of a missing DLL, it’s a pig to get rid of, hence re-installation of Vista! Located Vista drivers (ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/wireless/dwl-g510/DWL-G510_Vista.ZIP) and all okay – good strength, good speed and no dropout. Phew!
