Wireless LAN security
For WLAN security issues, this adapter supports 64/128-bit WEP data encryption that protects your wireless network from eavesdropping. It also supports WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) feature that combines IEEE 802.1x and TKIP (Temporal Key Integrity Protocol) technologies. Client users are required to authorize before accessing to APs or AP Routers, and the data transmitted in the network is encrypted/decrypted by a dynamically changed secret key. Furthermore, this adapter supports WPA2 function, WPA2 provides a stronger encryption mechanism through AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), which is a requirement for some corporate and government users. -
Supports turbo mode
This adapter supports higher data throughput than the IEEE 802.11g standard (up to 54Mbps). It supports specific ways to increase the data transfer rate at a time; compress the data and decrease the waiting time to send the next data to the routers or APs. This feature is called turbo mode. When the adapter is connecting to the routers or APs with the proprietary feature, the wireless network will be more effective. -
Detachable antennas
The detachable antenna with extended cable let you relocate the antenna to receive the best signals. Also, you can change to any external detachable dipole antenna, EW-7128g is your choice for wireless connection!

Good product, geat price

This was easy to install and worked first time.
The setup wizard interface is a little complicated if you are not familiar with technical details of wi-fi networking, but is fully featured.
You need to run the setup for each user on a multi-user PC - a bit of a pain.
Takes a while to load up on boot as well.

Built a new Intel/Gigabyte system. OpenSUSE installed in ~20mins and wireless networking only needed a passphrase & a few config details (manual IP address etc.) Performance solid and quality amazing at the price.

This is the best wireless card I have ever used, I have had many top brands such as Netgear that have been a real pain to install and had terrible signal strength but this card was a breeze to install and I get 54mbs all the time even though the router is downstairs!!! The best, highly recommended.

Brilliant value for money 64-bit XP drivers where a bit of a headache but a quick E-mail to Edimax resolved this. The XP drivers listed on the website are 32 and 64 bit (they just don't tell you this)

Based on the reviews here, I bought this card last week to replace my existing Netgear WG311v3 PCI card which has been no end of trouble. It always had a signal strength of around 3% and kept dropping out. Now with this little baby installed I get a 100% signal from my Netgear router downstairs! Would highly recommend - no need to buy the expensive brands!!

Being a Linux novice and after much trawling of the likes of PC World for a Linux compatible wireless network card i came accross this card from Edimax on the Dabs website. The card does "exactly what it says on the tin" - installed it, booted up, located the network no problem - whole process took less than 10 minutes. No silly Windows installation wizards.

Great card, rubbish CD
Reviewed by Henry Ford. Review Posted 15/11/2008
The driver on the CD installed fine with Windows XP SP2. However windows still didn't recognise the card. This was not a problem as the manufacturers website has the latest driver which does work. Don't insert the CD, instead download and install the driver. You can do this before OR after you insert the PCI card, just don't let windows search for drivers before you install Edimax's.
