Do you listen to livefm, upload pictures to Flickr, live life on Twitter, watch YouTube or make VoIP calls? Want to be able to do that wirelessly at home AND when you're out and about? For free? Wherever you are? Get your BT FONSpot WiFi router and join the global revolution to make internet access available any where, any time!
Like other WiFi routers the FONSpot gives you wireless access to your Internet connection but it also comes with free access to thousands of WiFi hotspots around the world.
It's a WiFi router but not as we know it Jim. A BT FONSpot may just be the size of your hand but it lets you join the world's largest WiFi sharing community.
What makes the BT FONSpot special though is that it is your very own WiFi hotspot! It lets you share a part of your broadband Internet connection with others and in return you get free access to the WiFi hotspots of everyone else around the world who is sharing. That's more than 200,000 locations worldwide and growing fast.
In the UK alone there are already over 120,000 members ready to share their hotspots with you. The FONSpot gives you access to the BTFON network - BT Home Hub routers whose owners have already opted into the BTFON community. Additionally you receive 120 minutes of free access to BT Openzone's 3,000 premium hotspots in airports, hotels, cafes and other public areas across the UK.
And now for the science bit- The BT FONSpot is the 2-port edition of FON's cool Fonera WiFi router.
The BT FONSpot comes with an Internet port to connect to your existing broadband service and an additional LAN port to connect a wired device to your networks. When connected to your Internet connection it creates a secure wireless network for your laptop and other WiFi enabled devices to connect at speeds of up to 54Mpbs. Easy to install the FONSpot is compatible with all of your WiFi-ready devices - laptop, phone or MP3 player.
This device acts as a Wireless Router to provide wireless internet access for your broadband connection, it can be used as a sole Cable router device or in conjunction with an ADSL Modem/Router.

Free Internet when you're not at home

If you have ever paid for Wifi in a hotel or a Starbucks, YOU NEED THIS ROUTER at home. With this "Fon Spot" connected at home, you'll have access to thousands of wifi hotspots around the world. I needed to connect to the Internet in Paris, and I found out a FON WiFi signal... I paid much less than in any other WiFi Hotspot (I think it's around 3 euros per day). And if I had a FON Spot at home, it would have been free!! connecting to other Fon Spots it's free for members. (amazing!) It's a bit difficult to install comparing with other WiFi routers, but definitely worth it. Now I'm happy to see Fon spreading in London, in Shoreditch (www.shoreditchwifi.com).

This has completely changed the way that I use the internet - I can now use the internet, with no time limits or costs all over the world! With over 1 million other users and 300 000+ hot spots I don't understand why everybody isn't using La Fonera+
Great concept, great product - I will never surf without it again!

you share your bandwidth at home in order to get free wifi roaming in every other foneras in the world!! and they have more than 100k hotspots alone in the uk... have a look to http://maps.fon.com, it's amazing what they're giving you for as little as another non-expensive wifi router.

Another Real Customer

Im another Real Customer and have to echo that the first four reviews are clearly false.
Having one of these might be useful if one of your mates has one or a fon enabled bt hub so you can jump on WiFi when you are visiting withough swapping WPA keys but dont expect universal WiFi around the UK or the World!! In reality you have much more chance of stumbling on an open access point than you have of finding a fon and if you did find one you would have to be lucky enough for it to be in an immediately adjacent building to get a good enough signal.

I am a real customer, and I can honestly say you can hardly get a fon signal anywhere.
It's a complete joke, I had to send my router back. Nobody needs this router or service and it is not the most up to date technology either. BT creating a revolution? Please...!
