Excellent Drive

Good value for money for about 1000GB of Hard Drive. Comes with a 10/100 LAN and USB. Reformatted the drive to NTFS for USB and working well. Pretty quiet drive. Tried the wizard for networking before I reformatted, looks fine, but will use the drive as Direct USB. 10 out of 10, with quick delivery as well, thanks.

I bought this drive expecting it to operate as both a USB and a network drive simulateously however only one can be connected at the same time. Also, it gets a bit hot despite being able to shut down the drive aftert a period of inactivity; so it may be a bit wasteful to leave on full-time. Looks great and was easy to configure. It also came formatted as FAT32 which is useful for connecting to non-windows devices (such as a PVR) however this may be restrictive if you need to transfer files larger than 4GB (typical of HD video files).

This is a great piece of kit if you need a large amount of storage on your network for a low price point. My only issue is that the device comes with it's own internal DHCP server enabled by default. You therefore need to plug it into your computer directly with the ethernet cable to access its web-based control panel and switch DHCP off. As most people, I imagine, will be using the drive connected to a router that is already configured as a DHCP server, this seems an unnecessary step in what otherwise was a pain-free setup.
