Freecom DVD-RW Slim silver USB2/FW External Portable

This super small external CD / DVD drive, barely larger than a CD and fits easily in your pocket. It works on any notebook or PC while on the move, burns CDs or DVDs and stores up to 8.5GB of important data. Thanks to the LightScribe laser labeling technology, you can now label your CDs and DVDs without the use of ink, pens or stickers. After burning the data, simply place the CD or DVD upside-down in the drive, in order to inscribe the surface with the same laser that burns the data.

After shopping around, I eventually went for the Freecom Slim DVDRW drive to add DVD writing to my aging laptop. Once again I am not disapointed with the Freecom product (I already have 2 of their external hard drives). It looks good sat next to the laptop and is bus powered when reading, so I now have a mobile DVD Player, at last. The only minor drawback is the fact that it is not bus powered when writing to CD or DVD but to be honest I would not want to risk creating coasters so I prefer to use the power supply when writing anyway.
Great product, Freecom - keep it up.
Good drive. very happy. I chose it because it said it was bus powered, though on arrival the manual said it wasn't. It worked with no power supply if you connect it to the firewire and USB.
Don't be fooled by the photo. This is *not* the high quality case of the Freecom Mobile Hard Drives. Tacky 3-piece sheet aluminium. Tried to write Bus powered with both Firewire and USB. Firewire cable almost twice the length of the USB cable making this a *very* ugly portable setup. Will not write without the power supply. Poor show Freecom.
