Garmin Nuvi 5000

Great bit of kit - lovely big screen (almost too big!). I've been an avid tomtom user for the last 5 years so was worried about the changeover to garmin but i've been impressed so far. Voice guidance works great, poi's are easy to update, garmin garage works well. Even came with the GTM-21 FM Traffic receiver with 3 month trial of the total traffic network (USA?!) - however with a unlock code purchased from garmin it supports uk traffic updates (not very expensive)

APPLIES TO ALL GARMIN ! Nice unit, works well, shame about the mapping! Garmin, sadly, is using Navteq mapping - I tried a different model Nuvi (from Halfords!) last Christmas - and took it back as none of the one-way streets in my town were on it and the accuracy of place location on streets was poor - well, unacceptable! Now looking at Dabs for a unit with Teleatlas mapping - possibly a Tomtom. [I now have 2 Garmin Geko 201 (No mapping!) - the best toy I've had for many a year!

Nice bit of kit, had to send mine back due to usb not connecting, but used it on the road, fantastic bit of kit the voice guidence is spot on, pity it has no internal battery, so it has to 'start up' every time you switch on the ignition. Value for money, DABS price you cant go wrong.
