Great price, especially when you consider that this printer is Postscript 3 and therefore more-or-less compatible with any platform by using generic drivers.

Only downside is that it really seems to dislike RIPping some PS3 transparencies, especially when spot colours are in the same document (not necessarily on the same page). You can flatten them out before you send themby sending them as PS2, but that's sort of missing the point of a PS3 RIP. Fine for everyday use, and to be honest I doubt most users even know what spot colours are never mind how to use them.

Brilliant results from what is a very cheap and versatile printer with USB and Ethernet connections. My wife and I are networked to the printer via wi-fi, which means we can print wirelessly from our laptops. No problems mixing our Macs with PCs. Print quality is astoundingly good, even on plain paper. I do artwork for adverts and newsletters, so the built-in Postscript is a real boon. At the risk of sounding like I work either for Dabs or HP - which I don't - the printer is a revelation after having a couple of Lexmark lasers. The HP is a little slower, perhaps, but the quality is worth a couple of seconds extra. The toners are costly - why do manufacturers charge so much for the stuff? - but if you're looking for a good laser printer that is simple and effective, and cheap to buy, this is it. Oh, and I ordered if from Dabs quite late in the evening and it was delivered and up and running by noon the next day.

Great quality printing, looks great and superb value. I followed the previous reviewer's recommendation to update the firmware and install the express drivers. The only issue I had was the driver installation failing on Windows SBS 2003 with a "not a supported platform" error. Holding down shift and ctrl and clicking cancel to this message solved the problem and the installation continued without any further issues.

This colour printer is exceptional value, but took some perseverance to set up. The main problem was a misalignment of the printed colours, solved by a firmware update from the HP website followed by going through the printer's calibration procedure. Also I found it best to just install the express driver software, not the full version that leaves a "toolbox" and other resources permanently running on your computer which slows it down quite a lot.

Just brought one of these and HP ship these with toner cartridges that are less than half full but this is not clear in the product description. You get enough toner for 750 pages vs 2000 pages from a new cartridge. It will cost you £220 to refill it after 750 pages. The HP2600n use to ship with full cartridges and was much better value at the same price. You may want to check some different makes and research toner cartridge cost and the number of pages you get from a fully charged cartridge before you go for an HP.

Pros:

o VERY expensive to run... toner doesn't last long if you're printing presentations;
o Sometime slow to print - more memory may fix;
o Unable to set up via network... my router just can't see it (although not sure if it is an issue with the router or the printer)

This is a nice printer, good print quality and easy to use and setup. The display on the front of the printer is easy to use and initally I was happy with it.

This printer was purchased to be used in a small office environment, printing mainly B&W but sometimes colour. After a few months (of daily use) the cartiridges seem to go rotten, (before they have run out) the printer makes an awful noise and covers the page in all sorts of werid and wonderful colours. Its easy to fix though £200 on new toner!
