The case is only slightly larger that the drive it encloses but it is still sturdy. Putting it together is a piece of cake. You don't have to remove any screws first and only have to screw in 4 in all. The case came with spare screws and a screwdriver! The on-off switch is useful and they supply an additional power cable should your USB port not supply enough but the standard cable was enough on my laptop. Windows 7 recognised the drive immediately so the drivers disk wasn't needed. I have used a number of external cases over the past 5 years and these are the best so far.

I was very pleasantly surprised that this inexpensive enclosure did exactly what I had hoped it would. The motherboard on my laptop died and I wanted to be able to access the data on the old 2.5" SATA hard drive, and then maybe reuse the drive later as additional storage.
Although initially it looked unpromising as my old laptop HDD seemed to sport a different fitting (it took me a few moments to realise that the old drive was equipped with a tiny removable adapter), within five minutes I had the old drive installed in the enclosure and plugged in to the new Vista laptop. In another 10 seconds the two partitions popped-up as different drive letters under 'Computer' and all my data was accessible.
This is a neat little unit that really does what it says on the (brushed aluminium) tin. It only needs one USB cable on a Sony Vaio FW series, and is probably the best in its price range.

I'd like to correct myself. This caddy does not need 3 connectors, it will run off just the USB cable, but it does not mention this in the instructions. As such, this device works very well, it only requires ONE socket on my laptop now, and does everything it should. Clearer instructions would be beneficial, but apart from this it is a good purchase.

3 USB Sockets!

Excellent delvery, ordered friday arrived moneday.
But, this caddy requires 3 USB sockets. Two are for power and the nother one for data, I'm not an expert, but I reckon they could've integrated the 2 cables!
