Good build. Card reader not perfect

After trying several card readers that have scrambled the cards, and a front panel that ate my headphone jack I went for the IcyBox build quality. It is very good. The card reader is stable (contrary to some reports of it being flimsy) and the ports are good quality.
Attaching the USB3.0 through the back of the PC is easy and included is a PCI card blanking plate with two cable holes - very good quality. It will add cable nightmare to the inside of your PC and the blue power light will illuminate the inside nicely too (be warned if you have chosen red modding lights inside!) However, outside the cae the light is less noticeable than the case power light.
The rating of 4 is because the SD card reader does catch the 'read only' switch on the card and therefore needs care. I have also seen reported that some of the slots are upside down - can't say I noticed! Also doesn't read MiniSD cards, but does read SDHC and SDXC very nicely.
Recommended above the cheaper options!

I bought this as it had the exact set of ports I was looking for and having fitted it into my case, it does what I needed. However the reason for the low mark is that the build quality is really poor. Its made of cheap plastic and installing it, it would be really easy to break off the fittings. Watch out for the the circuit boards which are fully exposed. The cables inside the machine are all quite heavy duty (and thus difficult to route) and the circuit boards are not well secured so again, it would be easy to snap cables from the boards.The USB 3 pass through cables are a bit poor too but I knew this before I bought.
Poor build quality seems to be a running theme with these internal multi port card readers. Guess theres not much money to be made in the field.
