NAS4220-B

For me this worked straight out of the box (I didn't bother with the recommended firmware upgrade). I fitted Seagate Barracuda SATAII drives (500GB) and the NAS had no problem detecting these. Setting these up was relatively simple. It may not be the cheapest enclosure but it is very quiet and well built with a good range of disk formats and network services supported. It took around 2hours to transfer 30GB of data on a 100MBps connection. Would definitely recommend.

Best NAS device out there in my opinion, the best feature is that its constantly being updated with new features and fixes thanks to a very large community of users for the device who are helping developments. I would suggest anyone who is expereincing problems to update to the latest firmware or contact the UK support who are very helpful.
This is the third NAS4220 i have purchased and setup for another family member, the price has increased since i last purchased, but overall i'm still very happy!

Simple enough to use and better looking than the rest!

I bought this item last week, infact I bought two as I had got a great deal on 500 gb sata hard drives. I managed to get 4 for less than 100 pounds!! Anyway I was going to install these into USB enclosures but saw this NAS. Unlike other NAS units I had seen it was well priced and looked pretty good. Most seem to be aimed at IT Professionals, but nowadays people (ME!) have films and all sorts of valuable data. I have unfortunately lost 2 hard drives to failure, and I didnt want this to happen again. With this NAS I can use the raid functions so that my data is mirrored to the other drive. So if one hard drive fails, it my be a hassle, but atleast I will have the Family photos still intact. I defintely recommend this!!!

The setup and installation of the drives can be tricky, but value for money i cannot complain. I now have my very own low cost 2TB NAS server running 24/7. Just found out it streams media to xbox 360 & ps3 too! Highly recommended!

Best NAS out there
Reviewed by Dave. Review Posted 11/02/2009
I brought one of these back in the autumn, along with two 1TB drives, as there is no limit on the drives you can use. First thought when i got it out of the box was that it was a very well constructed piece of kit and smaller than i thought. Adding the hard drives was a piece of cake and getting the whole thing up and running was a doddle. It couldn't be easier. I have it connected via a network cable to my router, making it available to every computer around my house. Sharing the files is easy and fast. The extra features including Upnp and bit torrent are brilliant bonus features. When running the funky blue light at the front gives the kit some style too. So to sum up, this is the best NAS (with unlimited drive space) that you can get for your money, that looks great and includes all the features you will ever need.

Absolutly love this device! the bit-torrent client is a feature i use all the time, i only found out recently that its open source!
Open source linux!!
I've already been messing around writing some basic programs. you can litrally make this do anything you require aslong as it has the power using its processor, also i must add compared to other brands this is a good price, contains lots of very good features and the performance is very fast for what you pay!

IB-NAS4220-B

Firstly the looks of this are far better than what you could imagine they would be. Also the size of the machine is actually far smaller than i imagined too. Fits nice an neatly under my raised part of the desk, and really adds a sense of eligence to my set up.
I purchased 2 Seagate Barracuda 750GB S300 that were on offer -BEST PRICE AROUND- :-) to fit in this.
At first all went smootly with installing the drives etc. However i must add i found the initial interface of the programe a little hard to figure out, but i do not try and pretend i know what i am doing. Eventually got sorted after couple of attemps
The network is easy to use just like it was inside your computer. I added users fairly easily and they can access the drives smootly.
All in all i personally think its a fantasic product, and although i have rated it 3 out of 5 for ease of use, what is always 100%...simply a great network drive.

Network attached storage from Icy Box
Reviewed by Jamiee Watson. Review Posted 22/05/2008
Not only does this Icy Box NAS box hold a couple of SATA HDDS, any capacity, and share it all on the network, but it does so much more. For starters, you can set up the two drives to run in RAID 0 or 1, Span, or JBOD configurations. Then there is a Gigabit NIC built in, one touch backup, and a quiet, cool, and low power case, and that’s just the end of the more boring features. It also has 2 USB ports built in that will allow you to connect and share other external storage devices and/or printers all with ease. It can run 7 different kinds of servers including the following: Samba, NFS, DHCP, UPnP-AV, Print Server, and iTunes server, you also get 30 day trials of Twonky Media’s Multimedia Server. My personal favorite feature, it has an integrated BitTorrent client. so for what it does its pretty fairly priced.

Good NAS - BUT...........
Reviewed by . Review Posted 24/06/2009
THis is a good NAS with an impressive feature selection. But to achieve them you will need some determination.
Firstly the support for the device is mainly from a German website, there is little english support.
Be VERY carefull when choosing the disks you put in. The NAS has major compatibility issues with almost every major hard disk brand. Seagate is arguably the most reliable.
You will need to update the firmware from the afformentioned German website. It does have the ability to execute custom applications such as a emule client, but you will need some technical knowledge to do this.
