I have the Q9550 which is the same as this but 2.8Ghz. I have had no problems since buying it in late 2008.
In reply to the review that mentions unreliability, the problem is most likely your motherboard or power supply rather than the CPU.

Been running this for several months now. Works great with a Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR motherboard and Crucial Ballistix DDR3 RAM.
System performs really well.

In my experience, similar/same components that fail over and over show a problem with other hardware interacting with them. For instance, I replaced the RAM in my old system twice before testing the PSU and finding an over-voltage problem. New PSU, and it's running fine.
For anyone interested in buying this CPU, I wouldn't worry. Intel have a very good track record of reliability when not overclocking.

I am not a happy person this was to be a repacement for my QX9770 which had also died after 11 months no over clocking done. The Q9650 ONLY worked for 5 HOURS again no overclocking. I must be very unlucky or what? I have now given up on a second repacement
