I bought LaCie d2 Quadra 1TB hard drive to use as both a backup drive and additional storage for my PC. The Genie backup software that came with the drive is pretty efficient. The unit is truly plug and play, I just plugged the unit in and it worked straight away. I love the speed of the drive and the stable performance. All in all, this device was just what I was looking for and I am totally satisfied.

I've bought this drive almost two years ago and my expectations were beyond met. My d2 Quadra still performs exactly the way it did when I first bought it. The drive is very quiet and transfers data very fast. The design is sleek and stylish.I highly recommend this product.

This is an excellent external hard drive. Thanks to the sturdy and thermally efficient aluminum casing the drive doesn't need a fan, and is therefore very quiet. The transfer speed is good. The drive has lots of interfaces, with cables included! It's been a great choice, the drive fits my needs perfectly.

I've bought this drive five months ago for backup. So far it has worked fine. It's very easy to install, Genie Backup Assistant software works great, the transfer speed is similar to other external drives I have. There's one feature that I particularly like, it's the shortcut button that allows to launch any application with one push of that button. In summary, so far I am quite happy with this product.

Good quality unit, works well. The installation is easy, it basically took me 1 minute to connect the drive. RAID is also easier to set up than I thought. The drive has a fully customizable and clear web gui. I'm happy with the product.

This is a great solid hard drive. I've had no problems with it thus far. The ability to connect via 2 different interfaces is great, the drive runs super-fast, and very quietly. Overall great product!

This is my second d2 Quadra drive. I use these drives for backup and as a central storage solution for my photo and video collections. I am extremely satisfied with their performance. Both units are very quiet and fast. I like the design, and in particular the fact that the casing is made of solid aluminum and serves as a heat sink. I've mounted the units on a rack and they look beautiful. Another plus is that the drives have a three-way power button for customized power management.

I bought this product about 8 months ago to use with my Mac. It's perfect for working with large files such as photo and video. The transfer speed is very high. At the same time the drive runs cool and quiet. I mostly use it with Firewire 800 interface. The drive is compatible with the Time Machine. I give it 5 stars without hesitation.

Problems with eSata connection

Works well when connected by USB or Firewire, but eSata connections randomly dropped.
Under Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit) whenever I connect by eSata and try to copy files to/from the device it randomly disconnects. This occurs on both my desktop and laptop computers.
Both computers have no problems talking to other eSata devices using the same connections and cables so it must be the LaCie that is at fault.
