Description
The Linksys Wireless-N ADSL2+ Gateway is the all-in-one solution for Internet connectivity. The ADSL2+ Modem function gives you a blazing fast connection to the Internet, far faster than a dial-up, and without tying up your phone line. The router function lets you share your high-speed Internet connection with all the PCs in the house.
Share files, printers, hard drive space, and other resources by connecting your computers to the gateway via the built-in 4-port 10/100 Ethernet Switch. Attach four wired PCs directly, or connect more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need.
Or, use the built-in Access Point to connect wireless devices to your network without running cables through the building. The Access Point built into the gateway uses the wireless networking technology - Wireless-N. By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area maintaining the wireless connection much farther than standard Wireless-G.
With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the gateway can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds far faster than standard Wireless-G. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the "good neighbor" mode ensures that the router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band.
The Gateway protects your data and privacy with up to 256-bit industrial-strength encryption and 802.1x authentication and authorization. It also has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your computers against intruders and most known Internet attacks. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.
With the Linksys Wireless-N ADSL2+ Gateway at the heart of your network, you're connected to the future.

Set up was a doddle, software that comes with it is genius, and teh signal strength is very good. Looks much better than most routers too!

Pleased with Linksys WAG160N
Reviewed by NigMos. Review Posted 14/02/2010
Have used this router for some considerable time now and find that it's ADSl download connection is higher than my Belkin N1 router as well as wireless connection reliability is better.
The software interface is very good and again prefered to that of the Belkin N1.
That said both work well for me.

I really cant beleive how well this thing turned out. I bought this to replace my BTHomHub which was just not cutting it, was slow and kept giving me NAT problems on my devices even after Port Forwarding. So I bought this on Staurday night and it came Tuesday just as I ordered, Dabs ALWAYS get things to you on time no matter what. So I set it up in 5 minutes and boom the PC has an open NAT on Games for Windows Live, check my speed and the new Router is so stable its unbeleivable. 5/5, best router I have bought, and the excellent service I have came to know from Dabs <3

Good Kit
Reviewed by Jeff. Review Posted 30/06/2008
This was a replacement for a previous Linksys wireless modem; Wow what a difference. We have 2 laptops, 1 PS3 connected wirelessly and one PC connected directly by cable. The setup follows the Linksys standard and is pretty straight forward, all the necessary cables & filter come in the box so it's ready to go. The wireless side of things is superb, with no connection issues at all. There is no comparing this with my old one, the signal is excellant and is a big improvement. If you need a easy bit of kit for home, you can't go wrong, it even runs much cooler than the last one. Oh & Dabs has super delivery as usual - well done Dabs.

Excellent bit of kit

Really pleased with this wireless router. I have a long and noisy phone line that many adsl routers / modems have trouble with, but the WAG160N achieves a high sync speed and is extremely stable.
The other benefit that I was surprised to see is *much* better wireless coverage compared to my old Netgear DG834G, and that's only using existing "G" access points.
The only negatives I can think of is, I am surprised that device doesn't show you the line noise figures, only the sync speed. And it does run *extremely* hot, which isn't a problem, just surprising how hot it gets.

It works - but be prepared for problems

OK - I'm new to setting up a network so expected it would take some time to get this up and running. It says on the box "Easy to set-up and running in minutes with Linksys EasyLinkAdvisor (LELA) - No Chance, more like days!! Installed the WAG160N following the instructions, no connection, so read the user manual - not first time user friendly. By a process of elimination it turned out that the Microfilter and phone cable supplied did not work! Replaced them with a spare from an old modem and we get connected. Installed a WUSB300N USB Network Adapter (bundle from DABS) on my laptop. Managed to connect them over the network but not able to share files or access internet. Linksys knowledgebase not much use, they have discontinued e-mail help and the 0800 helpline not a lot of use. In the end I downloaded a free trial of Network Magic and was up and running with file share and Internet within 10 minutes.

Does it work as advertised - NO!
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 28/12/2010
Product advertised as being Windows 7 32/64bit compatible. I have a 64-bit system + Linksys WMP600N wifi card, my husband 32-bit with same card. Purchased this router after old one packed up (Netgear).
The LELA doesn't work on 64-bit but this s/w isn't necessary on Windows anyway as it will pick it up auto.
Several issues:
It's a "wireless" router - why then does the wireless stop working everytime I unplug the LAN from my machine? Did manage to solve this by uninstalling all trace of Linksys software/drivers from both machines. Rebooting triggered Windows to install it's drivers and both systems now run wirelessly. On packaging "multiple computers" icon is greyed out ?? Can only one user connect then?

Started off well and went down hill
Reviewed by Leigh. Review Posted 17/11/2009
I bought this after I sent a faulty Netgear Wireless N router back for being faulty. Everything started off OK after getting round the now clunky Linksys interfaces.
Then, after three months, I started to notice that web pages would load extremely slowly. Up on pinging the device via wireless, I receive "Request timed out" messages interspersed with replies.
Another Wireless N device with the same problem as my previous one and I know it is not the computer because I have tried it on three different ones!

slow ADSL speeds
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 07/08/2008
Have had to return mine, it was not working properly on my ADSL Line, it worked, but at a greatly reduced speed when compared to my old router.
Linksys support have been excellent, online chat, and followed up by phoning me straight back, but all to no avail. So i've just sent it back.
Otherwise, setup was simple, wireless speed excellent.
I just had a dud I guess.
