Description
Wireless-G is the upcoming 54Mbps wireless networking standard that's almost five times faster than the widely deployed Wireless-B (802.11b) products found in homes, businesses, and public wireless hotspots around the country - but since they share the same 2.4GHz radio band, Wireless-G devices can also interoperate with existing 11Mbps Wireless-B equipment.
Since both standards are built in, you can protect your investment in existing 802.11b infrastructure, and migrate to the new screaming fast Wireless-G standard as your needs grow.
The Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G or Wireless-B devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices. Connect four PCs directly, or daisy-chain out to more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.
To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G Broadband Router can encrypt all wireless transmissions. The Router can serve as a DHCP Server, has NAT technology to protect against Internet intruders, supports VPN pass-through, and can be configured to filter internal users' access to the Internet. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.
With the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games with the flexibility, speed, and security you need!

Another winner from Cisco
Reviewed by Ken. Review Posted 25/08/2009
Proved very easy to set up, excellent range throughout house even though we have solid victorian brick walls. I've not had to adjust the aerial positions yet, just 'plonked it' on the desk to test it out and it worked.
This is only a router which is suitable for use with Cable or ADSL modems; you still require your old modem which connects up, via ethernet, to the Internet conection point on this Router (RJ45) i.e. there isn't a USB connection point.
Setting up was completed within 10 minutes via a very good, well thought out set-up program. The PDF manual was also very good should you need it.
Another excellent product from Cisco ... highly recommended.

One of the best DSL routers on the market
Reviewed by Andy. Review Posted 28/05/2009
The amount of wireless routers I have used this is by far the best value for money, functionality and great for network integrity.
Not too sure why people moan about titles and names, if it says ADSL then its got an ADSL connection if it says DSL then its DSL cable only, pretty simple if you ask me. If you don't know what you're doing then get professional advice on what product to buy.

Very Simple to set up
Reviewed by Rob. Review Posted 23/07/2007
Not the cheapest wireless router I could find, but I decided to sacrafice price for reliability and ease of use, and I'm glad that I did. Had it set-up working with my Virgin broadband within 10 minutes and had my PC and laptop connected with wires. Had my Wii and PSP connected wirelessly within another 10 minutes, all with WPA security.
Very very simple to set-up, no problems so far and good signal strength.

Yes it does have RJ45 for DSL Modem
Reviewed by Gordon. Review Posted 22/03/2007
This is an excellent bit of kit and has functioned flawlessly for me.
Far superior to some of the other router I have had.
Im not sure why someone would think it doesnt have a RJ45 port for a patch cable to/from a modem. IT DOES.
The earlier review was a bit confused I guess!

Linux based router
Reviewed by Bob Hinton. Review Posted 26/06/2006
This is the Linux based version of the WRT54G wireless router. The linksys sourced firmware has had a number of years to settle and so is stable. Whereas the new versions of the WRT54G are now VxWorks based and have been reported to have had a few teething problems. This router may easily be reflashed with OpenWRT - http://www.openwrt.org if desired.

Question?

So this has a standard RJ45 input for standard Cat5/Cat5e patch cable from a standard twisted pair ethernet cable/DSL modem?

No modem adapter
Reviewed by . Review Posted 16/12/2006
Have no idea about the products performance but doesn't have a socket to connect a DSL modem. So unless you have a RJ45 connection you can't use it.
So you can't share you internet DSL connection as advertised.

Dishonest Title
Reviewed by Anonymous Review Posted 18/05/2007
I am fed up with picking up the pieces after people have bought devices like this one which is dishonestly titled by Linksys. Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router, it says provides 3 devices in 1: wireless, cable and router. So how come it has the word BROADBAND in the title? People buy these thinking they can then get me plug their broadband connector straight in and distribute the internet. WHY DO THEY HAVE BROADBAND IN THE TITLE? Surely ANY router could have broadband in the title if this device does?
